I am finding out that just in time also applies to guns, ammo, and accessories, more of which are made overseas than I first realized. Of course besides the novel virus, Doomer Doug may be dealing with anti Trump riots, here in Little Beirut, on Tuesday, when Trump gives THE STATE OF THE UNION, AND ALSO WHEN THE ANTIFA THUGS REALIZE HE WON'T BE IMPEACHED. THANKS AGAIN, DOC 1, FOR THE 357 GIFTS YOU GAVE ME.

Ah, .357- my favorite number. Cure for most anit-social ills... God Bless the late, great magnum chef, Elmer Keith, whose acolytes have faithfully carried on the maxim, "Bigger is better..." When you must stop clocks, an' make a splash, magnums are more fun than bottled champagne...

Good luck, fair winds/following seas, Doug. Best batten down the hateches, for angry weather is ahead...

Muslim Cleric Issues Fatwa Celebrating Coronavirus "Annihilation" Of Chinese People

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit news,
While the media continues to fret about “racist” bat soup memes, a Muslim cleric just issued a fatwa celebrating the coronavirus outbreak and calling for the “annihilation” of Chinese people.

On January 23rd last month, Syrian jihadi cleric Abd Al-Razzaq Al-Mahdi celebrated the spread of coronavirus in China and urged Muslims to pray for Allah to “annihilate” the people of China.

Titled ‘Fatwas from the Land of Sham’ – Al-Mahdi was responding to a question from Muhammad Abu Nassir, who asked, “Is it permissible that we express our joy for what China is experiencing – the coronavirus and the death of the Chinese people?”

Al-Mahdi’s fatwa was issued via Telegram, but he is also apparently active on Twitter, which presumably permits jihadist fatwas yet just banned Zero Hedge for questioning the official story on the coronavirus outbreak.

Al-Mahdi’s fatwa is apparently not as newsworthy as the media’s primary obsession – patrolling “racist” bat soup memes.

There have been innumerable articles published over the last 10 days suggesting that the spread of bigotry in the form of criticism of Chinese people’s bizarre dietary habits is more concerning than the spread of the global coronavirus epidemic.

The fact remains; Whatever the source of the coronavirus (the source of both Ebola and SARS was bats), eating bats, dogs, pulling the intestines out of live frogs and dipping baby mice in sauce then chomping down on their wriggling bodies – is all objectively disgusting.

Ah, "The Religion of Peace."

Bloomberg) -- Apple Inc.’s major suppliers in China, including iPhone-maker Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., plan to resume full-scale production in the country Feb. 10, despite the coronavirus that has infected thousands and limited travel.

Foxconn’s Hon Hai, the most important manufacturer for the U.S. company, said Tuesday it still expects to be able to restart facilities throughout China on schedule, according to a text message sent to Bloomberg News. Suppliers such as Quanta Computer Inc., Inventec Corp. and LG Display Co. also said they would go back to work next week in China.

While Chinese officials and companies have targeted Feb. 10 as the date to resume work in much of the country, doubts about the timing have grown in recent days as the virus death toll rises, workers find themselves stuck in municipal lockdowns and the transport of people and goods has been hampered. More than 20,000 people have been infected with the virus and more than 400 have died.

Virtually all of the world’s iPhones are made in China, primarily by Hon Hai at its so-called iPhone City in Zhengzhou and by Pegatron Corp. at an assembly site near Shanghai. Each of those locations is more than 500 kilometers away from Wuhan in central China, the epicenter of the viral outbreak.

“The main variable is whether the government will push back the time for resuming production, though it is not very likely given the complexities of organizing transportation for the returning migrant workers,” said GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu. He added that any potential labor shortage is a serious issue that weighs on the minds of suppliers.

Apple said this week that it would close its corporate offices, stores and contact centers in mainland China through February 9, out of an “abundance of caution and based on the latest advice from leading health experts.”

Last week, Apple reported holiday-quarter revenue that beat Wall Street expectations on rebounding iPhone demand, sending its shares to a record. It issued a forecast that was wider than usual due to uncertainty created by the spread of the virus.

An Apple spokesman referred questions to Cook’s remarks last week that the company is monitoring developments in China closely and working with employees and partners in the region.

Apple has roughly 10,000 direct employees in China, across its retail and corporate entities. Its supply chain also has more than a million workers manufacturing products like the iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.

I would not be surprised to see an unfortunate episode ending his life with Chinese written all over it. What a loss that would be.

    • BEIJING — The Apple stores were among the busiest places still open in Beijing after the coronavirus outbreak, though employees forbade customers to try the watches or AirPods.
Some people ventured in out of necessity, as ever. “My laptop is broken,” one woman said. For others they provided a rare communal gathering space, a break from the isolation, anxiety and fear that have settled on the city of 23 million ever since the epidemic began to emanate from central China.
Now the stores have closed, along with theaters, museums, cinemas, temples, barbers, hair salons, karaoke bars, and most other shops and restaurants. The Forbidden City has shut down “until further notice,” as has a popular section of the Great Wall in the breezy, wintry hills to the northeast, far from urban congestion.

Beijing is not under a strict, government-ordered lockdown, like that in Wuhan and other cities at the center of the epidemic. It has, however, imposed restrictions on practically every aspect of life since declaring “the highest level of public health emergency” on Jan. 24.

Fliers from the Beijing government have been posted on shop windows and apartment buildings, urging everyone to take necessary precautions. Residents were encouraged to avoid “crowded places or public gatherings” — though most of those, including festivals celebrating the lunar new year, were canceled anyway.

Many stores and shopping centers have set up temperature checks for anyone entering. Some, including the Yves Saint Laurent in the upscale Sanlitun shopping district, have posted signs refusing entry to anyone not wearing a mask.

Suspicion has become its own contagion. “Stay there,” warned one man playing badminton with his daughter in Chaoyang Park, both wearing masks. “Don’t get close to us.”

JMHO here, but I think the economic consequences are going to be horrendous and this is all the more reason to get (substantial) food preps in order. As I posted much earlier on this thread, we further stocked up on our already substantial food stores and topped off various fuel storage. A very large percentage of American medicines are either made in China or critical pharmaceutical ingredients used in our medicines are made there. Do you have an adequate supply of meds (to include prescriptions)? Exactly like our old Y2K concerns, I believe you should be prepared to be self sufficient for a protracted period. If this goes bad in the US - and I pray that it doesn't - the worm will turn very quickly. At that point it will be too late to acquire what you need.

Just this A.M., I turned on the TV to Fox business, just in time to get the tail end of The Money Honey's, Maria Bartiromo's, interview with some gentleman who stated to expect massive shortages!! This can't can't be right because even if it were they would never announce it. I caught this sentence mid stream and probably the first part was I DON"T EXPECT massive shortages or some other not to worry statement/ Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Shortages or not being announced shoukd not deter your preper mind set!

Most if not all PPE's are made in China! Early ordering might be appropriate. You won't know how safe future products are free from any contamination?

In all your outings keep 3 things in mind and it is very similar to radioactive contamination and radiation control.

Time, distance, shielding.

Minimize time in area- Make a list and keep to it. Use auto check out to avoid contact with other people standing in line.
Avoid large crowds and keep your distance from hackers, etc. or even leave an area where this is happening.
Shielding. For radiation were are talking about lead, water, concrete or dirt but in our case we are talking about gloves, mask, and other protective clothing you might deem necessary.

planning is key to your survival. As always stay safe and well. Best to all.

Did they happen to mention any items in particular they think will be in short supply? I’m interested in their take, since it was on a mainstream news show.

A Sydney, Cape Breton eatery posted a sign in their window saying Chinese students are not welcome to dine in the restaurant due to the Coronavirus breakout in Wuhan, China.
The notice was posted on the door of Fortune Star Chinese Restaurant on Prince Street in Sydney.
Olivia Yu, a Cape Breton University student told Nova Scotia Buzz, “My friend went here three days ago and he got kicked out. They said Chinese students are not allowed to eat in and can only place an order through the phone and there has to be a delivery person to pick up.”
She added, “No student has gone to China during the break and the semester began before the virus outbreak so it’s unbelievable. With that said, the owner and all the staff are Chinese too so it’s unfortunate and truly sad.”

The Chief Medical Officer of Health in Nova Scotia, Dr. Robert Strang has previously come out to say that there is no reason for Nova Scotians to be overly concerned about Coronavirus. He said that when it comes to respiratory illness, the bigger threat to Nova Scotians is influenza.

We tried to reach Fortune Star Chinese Restaurant for comment on the notice, but as of publication they have not answered the phone.

They have since posted a very similar sign saying they have completely closed the restaurant for the next month.

We had the first sign translated and it stated that due to the illness in Wuhan, China, the restaurant wasn’t serving Chinese students. If needed they could use deliveries. They apologize for the inconvenience.

Or maybe they were planning on releasing a bioweapon and knew they would need a clean place for the chosen vaccinated to go. Hmmmmm
Yes, this same thought occurred to me just yesterday. Also, the friend I was conversing with suggested that maybe the Chinese had given vaccinations in previous Medical epidemics like SARS and MERS, that were differentiated to be given to those who would be immunized from the next pandemic, and those who were intended to be culled...

Good strategy, I'd only add for your example of outings, presuming some might be for shopping,
we also need a protocol for dealing with potentially contaminated outside packaging of any items
acquired before bringing into home. (And, if using cash money, this includes coin or paper money
change, too.) Strategy could include being set up to carefully remove any outer packaging outside,
assuming it's contaminated. Arsenal could also include different liquid or spray disinfectants and/or
UVC lamps or even sunlight, etc. We're experimenting with using our Cesium-137 calibrators here ,
for small batch items like paper money & coins. https://aem.asm.org/content/aem/22/1/61.full.pdf

Are China's reported numbers real?

China converting these facilities to temporary quarantine wards says otherwise.

AFP news agency (@AFP) Tweeted:

The Wuhan government said it plans to convert three existing venues, including a gymnasium and an exhibition centre, into hospitals to take in patients with mild symptoms of the #coronavirus AFP news agency on Twitter View: https://twitter.com/AFP/status/1224589135630893056?s=20

As many have pointed out there are bars on the windows of this "new" hospital. I would also like to point out the doors to each unit have a 360 degree seal including the bottom of the door which makes moving a gurney or hospital bed very difficult.

SINGAPORE - Singapore has recorded its first cases of local coronavirus transmission, with four women here infected who had not travelled to Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak.

Two work at Yong Thai Hang, a Chinese health products shop in Cavan Road, in Lavender, that caters to Chinese tour groups.

The third is a maid of one of the women, while the fourth is a tour guide who had taken groups to the same shop.

The tour group in question has since returned to China.

In addition, another two confirmed cases were announced on Tuesday (Feb 4).

The two were among a group of 92 people flown back to Singapore from Wuhan on a Scoot flight last Thursday. Before this, another two on the same flight had been reported as confirmed cases.

Thailand confirms six new coronavirus cases, including four Thais
Panarat Thepgumpanat and Patpicha Tanakasempipat

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand confirmed six new cases of the new coronavirus on Tuesday, four of them Thai nationals and two Chinese, bringing the total to 25, the highest number outside China.
The four Thais included a couple who visited Japan and two drivers who picked up Chinese passengers in Thailand, Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, director-general of the Department of Disease Control, told reporters.
It was not clear whether the couple contracted the virus in Japan or after returning, Suwannachai said.
One of the infected Thai drivers, a 70-year-old, also had tuberculosis and was transferred into government care from a private hospital on Monday with worse condition than the others.

The other driver was tracked down by Thai authorities after being identified as one of the people in contact with an infected Chinese tourist, Suwannachai said.

Thailand confirmed its first case of human-to-human transmission on Friday when a taxi driver tested positive
Thailand's total 25 cases consist of six Thais and 19 Chinese. Seventeen remain in hospital and eight have gone home, according to the health official.

Earlier on Tuesday, South Korea reported a 42-year-old woman has tested positive for coronavirus after visiting Thailand. It was not clear yet where she had contracted the virus.

Good LORD, isn't that a transmittable disease? And he's out driving a taxi, and is only put in a hospital due to the whuflu. I remember when contracting TB meant a stay in a sanitarium.

If we get to this coming weekend without any more clusters popping up domestically, I'd expect a genuine rally.

May have already started. Yesterday when I first saw the market it was up like 360+ ending at like 140 (?). This AM it was near +500. Looks like it's around +430 now.
