Biden accidentally tells South Carolina crowd he's a Dem candidate 'for the United States Senate'

Former Vice President Joe Biden made an unfortunate gaffe just days before the critical South Carolina primary, telling voters he's a Democratic candidate for the "United States Senate."

Biden was one of several 2020 hopefuls to attend the South Carolina Democrat Party's First in the South Dinner, where he reportedly received the longest ovation of any of his competitors.

However, wrapping up his remarks, he misspoke about which office he was seeking.


"You're the ones who sent Barack Obama the presidency. And I have a simple proposition here: I'm here to ask you for your help," Biden pleaded to Democratic voters. "Where I come from, you don't go very far unless you ask. My name's Joe Biden. I'm a Democratic candidate for the United State's Senate. Look me over. If you like what you see, help out. If not, vote for the other Biden. Give me a look though, okay?"

Biden, a former senator, has called South Carolina is "firewall," hoping to clinch his first primary victory after having disappointing turnouts in Iowa and New Hampshire as well as coming in at a distant second in Nevada last weekend.

However, Biden also raised eyebrows this week when he shared an unverified claim on the campaign trail that he was arrested in South Africa trying to free Nelson Mandela from prison, something he had never previously shared before. Also last week, Biden told CNN his late son, Beau Biden, had served as U.S. attorney general. Beau Biden was attorney general for the state of Delaware from 2007-2015.

This is a disaster for the whole party. There's no way Biden can beat Bernie like THIS. Either they let Grandpa Stalin go through to get beaten or they pull some switcheroo at Super Tuesday.

I find it extremely hard to have compassion for the man. He's a serious piece of shit. That being said, there is part of me who sincerely hopes somebody in his family has the compassion to help him step down from the ledge and try to enjoy his life. Then again, with the stuff looming from the Ukraine, this may be what desperation looks like - he can protect himself and his son as President, and he'll run himself into the grave or the loony bin trying for that last brass ring.

The whole thing is like a slow-motion car wreck...

I wonder if they'll ask which Biden is present at tonight's debate?

I fear it's getting so bad that he's bound to make a major slip up during a debate, and everyone will just move on because he'll have put himself out of consideration for any higher office.

If Joes family cares for him at all, they should get him to drop out and save himself further embarrassment .

I know some think he is running to keep out of jail. But I think he has demonstrated that he is off enough that they will not prosecute him. YMMV

There is something seriously wrong with this man's thought processes now. The only way he survives tonight is if the other crabs in the bucket decide to gang up and take out bernie sandflea or mini mike and kinda leave Joe for later. But he's toast.

I posted along time ago about the party keeping old Joe in the race. He is the only non communist running. Little hard when he doesn't know where he is.

She has to know the extent of this, and I hope she's pleading with him to get out. Unless she really doesn't care or he's really unreachable at this point.

I mean, a slip up is one thing, but a person of sound mind running for leader of the free world doesn't just say "I'm running for US Senate" in a stump speech and not IMMEDIATELY correct himself and say, "holy crap, that was weird! What I mean is..."

I imagine his wife is either getting some payola or there's an agreement to keep Joe in long enough so Hillary can run as his VP, probably unnecessary now that Bloomie is running.

He's not truely a candidate. He's must just a place holder.
No one in the Democrat party would believe he is viable President material.
They are not stupid enough to believe he has the capacity to oversee this country.
