Can Trump really get booted from office?

The nutcases in the swamp are the only ones that really want the impeachment trial because with that comes a lot of knocking the boots out and all the biting crap is going to come out with it. The kids on the left hold a grudge so there is some appeasement going on as well. They are throwing a bunch of crap hoping that something, anything sticks. Problem for them is that as the crap gets wiped off, it reveals a lot of other crap … like the Schiff staff visit to the Ukraine.

They have the numbers in the House, they don't have the numbers in the Senate. It isn't just a simple majority in the Senate that they need, they need 2/3s and better which means they have to flip a LOT of republican Senators to get what they want. That's not going to happen because they know what will happen to them back home. And if, by some miracle, they do manage to impeach and remove Trump, the payback in 2020 is going to be massive. The DNC won't be able to cheat their way out of the consequences. Impeachment is not something that is totally supported by the voting Democrat. And it is going to scuttle all of the DNC's offerings.

No wonder people keep thrashing to and fro. No one understands how it works. Well, I’m moving all impeachment process threads to POL effective immediately.

It's getting more likely that impeachment will happen.
They have the house.

The Senate will almost certainly not vote to remove trump from office.

I go with Dennis on this one.
This is a huge issue. Everyone needs to know the procedure. And the rest of the story behind it.

They aren't going to kick him out of office over him investigating corruption. The voters won't buy it. That's why they are still looking.

I think RBG might've seriously ill. They are freaking out.

Threads like this one help us learn it.

Some of it I've had to look up and other bits I've picked up from pundits on YouTube.

It's a mess. The process itself isn't very well laid out and has never really been used that often. I don't think they ever really counted on a group being THIS anti-democratic gaining power and using it for their own partisan purposes.

People - people - people!!

The HOUSE impeaches! It makes the indictment (a formal charge or accusation of a serious crime.).

The SENATE can either Convict or Acquit. Conviction requires a 2/3's majority vote, i.e. 66 senators would have to vote for conviction in order to remove the President from his office, otherwise he would be acquitted.

Here's the scary part. Considering the left's sick moronic mentality if "they" are by some freak of nature are able to remove Trump from office their next step will be to try to remove Pence in any way possible and guess whose next in line?!?

The Speaker of the House

Good God. I hope Dennis implements spoiler tags in the coming XenForo incarnation of this forum.

Impeached for asking the Ukraine to give up dirt on Biden. That's the charge. Whether it's legitimate or not is irrelevant at this point.

It's almost a certainty that it's going to a vote in the House. They've changed the rules to bring it forward and they have enough Democrats to do it. He will be impeached in the House, the same as Clinton was.

It will then go to the Senate where they need about 60 Republicans to cross the aisle and vote for his removal. It's EXTREMELY unlikely to happen. Of course we said Obamacare would never pass the Senate either but a lot of Republicans screwed us on that one too.
For Obamacare, the party split was two "I", fifty-seven "D", and 41 "R". Arlen Spector changed parties to bring the number up to sixty. Only one "R" screwed us. It was a party line vote in the House as well.

Secondly, they don't need 60 "R"s. It's currently fifty-three "R", forty-five "D", and 2 "I". They's have to get 19 "R"s to get to sixty-six.

Do you mean for Pence to take office as President? I don't think that is the case, I think all that has to happen is for Pence to be sworn in as President.
N0, if Trump is removed from office then President Pence would appoint Trump as V.P. and step down to let Trump be president. And, yes, Trump as V.P. would need to be approved by both houses.

I think their goal was to paralyze Trump. Can you imagine a foreign entity that would talk to Trump on the phone now? I think not. That gutshoots one important tool to conduct foreign policy.

And as I have ranted many times, Trump can be played. And I think they are playing him. Think of the time and energy he has already spent on this when there actually is no action as yet. Wait until the witnesses start testifying and Trump goes ballistic on Twitter because they have so slanted their testimony that it ends up being pretty far from the truth. .
They are not playing him; he is playing them. He gutshot them when he released the transcript before they asked for it. They were planning on him acting like a regular politician. This will work in his favor; watch and see.

Only 19??

Suddenly I feel a lot less secure.

They can probably find-bribe-extort 19.

Hey, we got your video here from Epstein's island. Either you vote for impeachment, or it goes to CNN. What do you say?

My opinion, for what it is worth, is that Nancy Pelosi is shooting her wad. She is in a bad place and she wants to be president, pure and simple. If they succeed in removing Trump, and somehow Pence is removed (by whatever means this third world coup attempt deems) she will have it and all the thieving lying politicians will sigh a sigh of relief and none of them will wear orange jumpsuits.

They have the votes - and even the answer to query. But do they have the "political will?"

Going back home to an electorate sick to death of all this is daunting. Not every Rep is AOC with the delusion rampant in the streets at home. And given the current Trump-Biden flap is SO weak in its foundation, and full of pit-falls for the Democrats over in the Senate when discussion widens to other Democratic bad actors, its unlikely to pass a full House vote - despite what they keep saying.

One has to remember what they say is not what they do.

I mean it was LAST THURSDAY when Pelosi said a vote was "imminent."

Thursday to Monday is an eternity in the news cycle.

Dobbin
It is. I do find it strange they haven't voted yet. This would indicate to me that they may have lost the votes, but can not control the momentum of the desire to impeach. If that is the case, they would end up delaying it for months to get to a censure or something like that.

Question.... did the Speaker become the VP as a general rule when the President left office and the VP became the P. I know that was the case with Ford. He was the Speaker, became VP and then P when Nixon resigned.

personal opinion:
The impeachment must be such a disgrace that the President agrees to leave . . . in shame . . . dun, dun, da, dun.
personal opinion:
there is nothing in this impeachment that is disgraceful
personal opinion:
Trump has won and lost and won and been in default and bankrupt and divorced so many times
that getting him to feel ashamed is probably next to impossible
and getting him to walk away from the gig is impossible

What is going to end up happening is a lot of J6P team D are gonna see their reps are useless self aggrandizing delusional npc meme's who have no concern for their constituints and only themselves and their TDS sickness.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Team R take back congress and keep / gain in senate, and hand trump a second term because of the people Team D has abondoned in their communist verve.

Election 20 20 full team R win; Team D splody heads incoming.

Dumbasses keep going for nuke level options, failing, and showing their commie face to people they count on not looking behind the curtain.

Drain that dam swamp; rat now.

No, the Speaker is third and only steps up if the first two are unable. For instance, when Pres. Kennedy was assassinated if Johnson had been assassinated at the same time then the Speaker of the house would have stepped in. It has never happened before and I don't know how long the Speaker would serve before a new election took place. I hope we never have to find out either.

Think LBJ after the Kennedy assassination. He was sworn in on the airplane before they took off back for DC.

However, a REPLACEMENT VP must be approved by both houses of Congress.
This may be the long term plan.

I did a bit of research. More often than not, (about 80%+) when a VP becomes the P, a new VP is not appointed. If a VP died in office he was not replaced until the next election.

So think of it this way.... a scenario

Trump is betrayed and he gets impeached. Then Pence is sworn in as P. Since the VP must be approved by both houses, The House refuses to do anything, making Nancy the next in line to be P. They then pull the same stunt and she becomes P.

Granted it is far out there and they would have to delay past the Presidential to make it work, but stranger things have happened. For example, how many believe they would not start on Pence the same way they do Trump is he becomes P?

Actually, Johnson did not have a VP for the rest of the term. (I checked as it was a common practice apparently) Until the 25th no actual way of succession existed. So if the dealt with Johnson, the Speaker would have become P.

Fun fact, Ford was the only VP and P never elected to the position.

I wasn't sure about Johnson and a VP. I didn't look it up and I was in Jr. high when Kennedy was killed. So many years ago and I still remember exactly the moment it was announced.
Thanks 20Gauge.

The dems have set the bar on impeachment so low that when the reps regain the house, and if they had actual balls, (they don't) impeachment of Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler would be the first thing on the schedule.
