Comedian and activist Chelsea Handler shared Friday that she had to seek out a psychiatrist after Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 presidential election.

Handler explained during an appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher” that she went through a “midlife identity crisis” after Trump shocked the world by defeating Hillary Clinton for the nation's highest office, saying she never felt her life feel “so unhinged.”

“I had to pay a psychiatrist to listen to me b---- about Donald Trump for about the first three weeks,” Handler told Maher. “And then once when we got past that and got to the real stuff, I realized the parallel there was my world becoming unhinged when I was a little girl, my brother died when I was nine years old. I had never related the two, but for me, as I can imagine it must have been for so many people, it was an emotional trigger of everything being destabilized and I realized how spoiled and privileged I had been all my life and realize to be this upset and this on-a-ten every day and the outrage and the anger, I just wanted to f---ing fight people, you know? And I was like, ‘I have to go see a psychiatrist.’”

The liberal comedian also spoke about having “white guilt” and how she realized in therapy that she had believed she didn’t have “the right to be in pain” because she hadn't been raped or molested.

“I’m a more mindful citizen because of it and I woke up. I’m in an awakening,” Handler continued.

She also said Trump’s election win “led” her to smoking marijuana and pivoting away from alcohol, calling cannabis the “gateway drug to meditation.”

Wow... somehow, we Deplorables and Normals managed to survive Obama actively destroying this country for 8 yesrs... without drugging ourselves, without needing psychiatric help, and still knowing who we are and what we believe in and stand for.

I believe Ms Handler needs to get out more, and that liberals must be the weakest people on the planet.

Chelsea describes a common problem associated with POTUS elections.

I know several people who purchased ARs and thousands of rounds of ammo following the Obama election debacle.

It isn't uncommon for something to shock a person into realizing that what they think is upsetting them is actually bringing up memories of something else and a good therapist can help with that, there are also indications that the cautious use of some natural pharmaceuticals like St. John's Wart or certain strains of Cannabis can help with that.

However, most people don't feel the need to go on about it on TV, instead, they keep it between themselves and their medical practitioner on a therapist, which is what they are there for.

This is what I think of when I think of the word "over-sharing."

Trump didn't give you the weed to smoke, Trump didn't drive you to see a shrink, you did this to yourself. Since you let your problems overwhelm you, maybe you should be put away for life Chelsea. You're a danger to yourself and the public.

I’ve found that most liberals I’ve encountered have spent decades with therapists. They need someone to tell their troubles to. Back in the day, those were called “friends”, and you didn’t have to pay them $150/hour.

Color yourself surprised, my wife is one of those. Her primary problems were, her mother conceived her while “dad” was in the service, he split when he came home and found out. Older brother blames my wife for dad abandoning them. Grandparents took them in, but discipline often included threats to “send them back to County”. Oh, and there was also the little situation with “Grandad”, but all the girls in the family went thru that.
