Global "Mini Ice Age"

This is a British tabloid, but the coverage of this possability has been talked about for a long time.
ICE AGE BRITAIN: River Thames will FREEZE OVER on 'this date' – and could kill millions
A GLOBAL cool down will “march in with vengeance” to usher in a 100-year mini-ice age that could freeze over the River Thames, climate scientists told Daily Star Online.
Experts told Daily Star Online planet Earth is on course for a “Little Age Ice” within the next three years thanks to a cocktail of climate change and low solar activity.

Research shows a natural cooling cycle that occurs every 230 years began in 2014 and will send temperatures plummeting even further by 2019.

Scientists are also expecting a “huge reduction” in solar activity for 33 years between 2020 and 2053 that will cause thermometers to crash.

Both cycles suggest Earth is entering a global cooling cycle that could have devastating consequences for global economy, human life and society as we know it.

If predictions of the world-wide big freeze come true, the plot to 2004 film The Day After Tomorrow would not be far from reality during winter.

I am pretty firmly in the Little Ice Age camp. I just hope that it's "just" a little ice age; I've read/heard a couple of people who do research, especially for the electric universe model, that are starting to lean toward full-on glaciation.

There was a 1998 TV movie called "Ice" that I still like. The premise was that a VERY abrupt change in the Sun's radiation leads to snow falling in Los Angeles, and once it starts the snow never stops over the course of the rest of the movie. A small group struggle with the consequences and last seen L.A. is almost completely buried under snow, along with pretty much everything north of there, as the group flees for warmer climates. To this day I still don't get the scientist (the only one predicting what actually happens and being roundly ignored by TPTB) looking, sounding, and acting like a mad Nazi scientist (he even has a Luger handgun!). I always thought it felt like the pilot for a new TV series, but as far as I know there was nothing after it. Although when you think about it, in 1998 the global warming crowd was already shrieking their lungs out, so maybe the Hollywood PTB decided to pass on a non-PC series concept.

On TB every waking moment
Everytime somebody bends my ear on climate change, I say this;

1. Climate is always changing. Been that way since the Dawn of Time. We cannot stop it.

2. You would prefer that it be getting cold?

Yes there are reports being posted that the last few months are good bit colder than norm and data for the last few years showing a cooling trend.

As some are saying we could be headed into mini ice age and it all has to do with the sun going into whats called a solar minima and they changed that back when George Bush was still in office to calling it a Grand Solar Minima and when this happens we can expect a major cooling trend and how long it will last and even how cold it will get is anyone's best guess, but past records indicate for the short term it can go for the next 15 to 30 years and long term again no telling its imposable to predict what will happen that far ahead.

Going by solar data alone, we should be seeing a cooling. We're in a very low sunspot phase now; low sunspots typically mean a lowered total solar irradiance. Total solar irradiance (TSI) arriving at the top of the atmosphere on average is is roughly 1361 W/m2 (1361 Watts per square meter). The variations in recent times have been in the range of a fraction of a percent. The most recent TSI reconstructions point to an increase of only about 0.05% to 0.1% between the Maunder Minimum and the present.

If the TSI declines a bit, the climate should be affected. What's going on now with the near-doubling of CO2 is an upward forcing as more of the TSI is retained. That could be why we're seeing continued warming instead of the cooling that this quiet sunspot cycle would normally produce. Until the 1960s the two were pretty much in sync. Since then the sun's output has declined slightly while measured temperatures have risen, as have phenomenological observations of glaciers, bloom times and sea ice.

An additional factor is the accidental geoengineering that is being done by humans. We now have high-altitude contrails, albedo changes as forests are stripped and grasslands created, grasslands denuded by overstocking, cities built, pavements spread and weird deviations of the circumpolar vortex as the difference in temperatures of polar and sub-polar regions produces historically huge waves.

The lesson here is that it doesn't take much variation of the sun's output to make for major changes from the perspective of us humans.

I have been frustrated in my attempts to find a real-time source for TSI. If one of y'all finds one, would you be so kind as to PM me about that?
