Veg Great garden this year!

As some of you know, I use the Back to Eden method of farming and have turned my red clay into a black, rich and loamy soil. Over the winter I amended my corn plot with the chicken manure everytime I cleaned the chicken coop. Well my corn has outdone itself so far! So has the garlic.

Very impressive.

Question: As we are both in GA and suffer from the same plague of possums and raccoons, does the fence actually work well enough? I am assuming your are somewhat rural like I am. (I know about assumptions)

Also, like the greenhouse!

Yes I am somewhat rural although Columbus is steadily moving out this way! The fence is to keep the chickens out. I have never had any trouble with raccoons or possums, have never even seen one on my land although I know they probably are. Last year when I planted the corn the chickens followed after me and picked out most of my seed. I got no corn at all last year due to them. The one pest that I do have a problem with is a rat snake that lives in the henhouse. After repeatedly removing it down to the creek I have finally called a truce and just agree to share the eggs with it :)

Nice corn patch there, Sherrynboo!

We lived outside Cartersville Ga. when I was 5 until I was 8. At one place we lived there, we had a neighbor man named Bud. He grew the most fantastic garden I've ever seen. He grew corn at least 7 foot tall. He had green beans growing with the corn, and the vines would climb the corn stalks. It was amazing to a 7 yo kid.

This reminds me, I have some pics of a farm festival we went to somewhere in North/Central Ga. A bunch of old restored tractors and such. Pics were taken in 1961 or so. I'll start a post on it.

I would love to see those old photos of those old tractors and the like!
