Asking for input from others here. Will model work on sewing denim. It seems to be a quilting machine feom the quick research I have done on it. Anyone have an opinion, actually use or own on? Looking for some feedback.

I know this is late to answer. Will it sew it, yes. Thing to consider with this machine is the availability of replacement parts. The gears are plastic and will break at some point. Sewing lots of denim or other heavy fabrics, especially multiple layers, will try the machine at time.

I use a walking foot when sewing denim.

Very smooth sewing heavy or many layers of fabric and it gives your bobbin feet a little extra umph. Need to be careful with the tension on the threads and go slow.

It's why I love a surger or over lock machine. love to sew a seam and finish it at the same time.

Finishing seams is my least favorite part of sewing. I think I'd rather take a beating.

Janomes were great machines my mom tells me ... lifetime seamstress, quilter, and worked for Joann Fabrics for almost 20 years. That said, many new machines have the plastic guts so have to be a lot more careful with them.

Mom says attachments are often at least the same importance as the machine. Use the wrong sewing foot and you might as well call it a day.

Also, check the availability of the belts and always keep one on hand.

This^^^ I have the Janome 6500 and it is a work horse, I've sewn leather, denim, canvas, and thin sheets of copper metal with it and have had zero problems. Make sure to use a leather needle when sewing denim or canvas, and that it's new so it's sharp.

Most Janomes are gear driven, not belt driven.
