WoT Keeping up with the news

nomifyle

TB Fanatic
With all the nonsense that is going on I can no longer "watch" the news or really even "listen" to much of it. I get the headlines and some more indepth information from a handful of sites on the web (to include TB) and now a days a limited number of youtube videos. Most videos I can't even stand to listen to the entire video. However, I get the overall gist of what is going on and can discuss whatever, but no more can I deal with it on tv. I put the tv on Tucker, to give him the ratings because I believe he speaks the truth, some times hanity and ingraham. Usually if I want to catch what is going on during the day I put the tv on OAN. I watch programs that I have recorded with the tv on OAN.

It really doesn't take long to understand what is going on but listening to it ad nauseam is more than I can stand.

Its too stressful, and kills to many brain cells.

I catch highlights here and post responses most days, all the while living my life on a small farm in the woods.

God is good, all the time

I watch Tucker every night, and do a quick run down of the headlines here on TB throughout the day. That's it. If I see something of interest to me, I will click on the thread. I'm just sick of it all, and find it rather helpful to my stress level if I just tune most of it out. As long as I get enough news to know what's going on, I'm satisfied with that.

I don't watch news or listen to it. It reminds me of the old Indian saying about there being two wolves inside us all, and when the little boy asks his grandfather which one wins the battle, pops replies: the one that we feed.

I'm extremely careful about who and what feeds me. The MSM pretends to be diverse interests, but they're all arms of the same mobile, being spun by the same puppet masters, who want a captive group of automans who jump and jive on command. I'm just not agreeable enough to be that person. Kind of a pita given my addiction to information and low threshold for boredom :: shrug :: I've found enough voices I trust who're willing to battle the cesspool to gather intell, and I drink from their font, but I refuse to be diminished by the toxic trash the culture tries to shove down our throats.

I'm the opposite. (I've always felt I was meant to be a "Watcher on the Wall.")

After 9-11, unless we were watching specific shows, the news (Fox) was kept on even as a background "just in case." Gradually, that settled down but now, it's back on.

Yeah, the visuals are depressing to be sure but then again, I don't want to be unprepared and uninformed. It helps to keep a sense of humor, do a quick jump into Jesus' lap, and enjoy all the good things of life in between.

I am a reader, not a viewer. Videos are too lean on information content, when I can read the same information in a small fraction of the time it takes to view them. "Zerohedge" is my favorite site for news, with its emphasis on economics.
It's the same for me. I need to read through information and digest it rather than watch it. I have tuned out tv almost completely and only occasionally watch videos online. Most of my "headline" news comes from twitter and I am selective about who I follow there. I listen to radio while working around the house: Rush off and on and also WMAL Mornings on the Mall for political news and interesting interviews. Chris Plante is a hoot.

I just listened to Mary Trump speaking about POTUS. They pointed out if I understood right she was a Federal Judge. They played it and it was something like OMG, he is such a liar! Then ended with swear words! What kind of stupid speech was that!
