The 28oz can of Keystone brand Beef is on sale for $4.87 per can at walmart.com and amazon.com. These normally sell for $7 or more at walmart in the store. The official expiration date is 5 years from date of canning.

At the sale price, it works out to $3 per pound for canned cooked beef with no additives except sea salt.

This is (online purchase only) walmart.com matching an amazon.com sale price. I don't know how long this pricing will last. It is not a fixed duration sale. I do know it will end with no notice so order now if interested.

Well, they did cancel my order saying it was out of stock! So, I don't know. At first the price was listed at 6.98/can, then it changed to 1.22/can.

For amazon, check the listing in an hour or 2. There is a good chance that they'll have more to sell, but will limit you to 4 total. So you could get up to 2 more. The limit is not 4 per order for amazon, it's a hard limit of 4 total.

Walmart let me put 8 in a cart just now with no issue. That would get free shipping.

We both couldn't figure out what was going on with the Walmart site. It was strange. It said that they couldn't even deliver to our nearest store......So, before Cary went to Amazon, he tried Walmart again. It was a totally different ballgame this morning. Our order went through just fine. Should be delivered to our door on Oct. 3.

We have the deep freezer, but have come to the same idea. Either can the meat or buy it in a cam. The only issue we have come across is the salt content of some cans. So we buy a couple of cans and if the salt is light, we are good to go.

I only have one can of corned beef hash. I really need to get more....

I have learned that the amazon limit of 4 cans is per week (every 7 days). I was able to place an order for another 4 cans at $4.87 price last night as a test.
If amazon shows only 1 or 2 cans available, wait an hour or 2 then check again. Once it shows 4 or more, assuming you want 4 cans, be ready to place the order.
If you don't have prime, decide on your extra item or 2 to get free shipping.

I ordered some from walmart on wednesday. It was delayed, but has actually shipped now.

The walmart order arrived tonight. Roughly half of the cans were dented slightly or noticeably, but none had evidence of any leaks.
All of the cans were marked with August or September 2024 expiration dates so these were canned/cooked recently.

Both amazon and walmart still have the price at $4.87 each as of tonight.

We use minimal salt and sugar in our lives, so generally we find what people consider normal is way too much.

Thanks for that idea, but we may be longer than 7 days with each trip we take. Son is in ICU at Ft. Hood, TX, so we are having to make trips back and forth, depending on his condition at any given time. Right now, he is stable, but still critical, and we are home for a bit.

I had ordered ten cans of this beef, and also ten cans of corned beef, and it came last night. The delivery guys dropped the (very heavy) box out by the mailbox, which was a bit of a pain. Thankfully, I have a garden wagon that I use to haul stuff around the yard. I'm also trying to get my freezer emptied out because we won't have any power in the house for the few days that the electricians will be working on the wiring. Though we may stay in a motel for a couple of nights at that point (my used travel trailer was just delivered a couple of hours ago, thanks to a friend who is a commercial hauler, but it's going to be running on an extension cord, so if the house has no power, the trailer won't have any, either).

The amazon site is offering the cans at that subscription price, which might help you get the timing you need, and the price you want!

Does the subscription deal lock in the future price? I've never used anything like that from amazon.

EDIT: I checked amazon and a subscription does not lock in a price. It might get a small discount if you subscribe to a few items, but otherwise it is just an automatic order that repeats every X months. Before each auto-order, you get an email with the current price and an option to cancel that particular delivery. Do nothing and it is shipped.

I used it once. I just heated it, added gravy, and put it on mashed potatoes. I plan on making beef rice soup, and beef stew with it. Lots of ways to use it. Casseroles and enchiladas, or any recipe that you might already use for leftover roast beef.

I don't want to take anything away from this wonderful thread, but for those who ask, I'll make it brief (short version).

Our son has MS. He began to have, what the doctors right now believe, are seizures that affect his breathing, swallowing, and the ability to be responsive. He is on a ventilator, plus a lot of other machines. As of last night, he has begun to run a temp, so we fear that he may have developed pneumonia. If this is the case, we will be headed back to Texas in a few hours. It's a 14 hour trip one way.

It won't surprise me if amazon is back in stock well before Oct 13. If you want some from amazon, don't wait for it to be back in stock.

It allowed me to put 4 in my amazon cart this morning. I have seen where it would only let me put 1 or 2 in the past. I waited an hour or two then was able to put in the limit of 4. It's a moving target.
If you already ordered 2 cans in the last week, then it will limit you to 2 additional cans until 7-8 days have passed.

I ordered 10 cans from Walmart to be delivered last Saturday, it never arrived. Walmart cancelled that shipment and sent another shipment to be delivered Tuesday. It has never arrived and neither Walmart nor Fedex knows where the package is.

I ordered 4 cans from Amazon, had to order one at a time and have yet to receive these either. I'll try amazon again to day. I did order 4 cans from Walmart, supposed to be delivered today. I've been getting the runaround from Fedex since Tuesday.

I'm not encouraged.
