Finally got it unpacked and set up in the garage
Wired a separate and stand alone 20 amp plug just for it
Started familiarizing myself with operating and controls
Not actively dehydrating yet
But and observation
I can set the temp and a specific time period to run
It heats up to the set temp pretty fast and begins operating
But
It will drop below operating temp and the clock timer will stop until the temp climbs back to set temp
Example. I set the operating temp at 120 degrees with a run time of 3 minutes
It actually took 12 minutes of run time before shut iff
Now I suspect the issue was the cold intake air from the garage as the ambient temp inside was only 40 degrees
Reading the instructions booklet it only referenced hi humidity as a factor in locating the dehydrator

Just wondering from those of you with dehydrator experience if this is a correct observation or did I get a defective unit

As stated it’s in a unheated garage

Depending on which model you have, there are a couple things mentioned in the manual. First, allow the unit to preheat for 15 minutes. Another is to use in ambient temperatures above 65 degrees.

Either of those could cause the issue you are experiencing....hope this helps!
