Few issues demonstrate the corrupting influence of politics as well as the debate over climate science. This should be a straightforward matter of engaging the scientific method to determine what we do know and what remains to be discovered. It is the science that should be complicated, not the goal of the project.
Instead, we have competing groups with conflicting agendas that depend on specific outcomes of scientific inquiry being accepted as truth for those agendas to move forward. While this is not an entirely new phenomenon, we can be thankful that it has not permeated all scientific inquiry to this degree lest we still be bogged down in a debate over whether the Earth or our sun is at the center of the solar system.
As we are painfully aware, the political left supports the belief that the climate is changing as a result of human activity, that this change is detrimental, and that immediate action on the part of all nations is essential to prevent a cataclysmic event in this century.

New Study Finds ‘Nearly All’ Global Warming Data is Fabricated

The climate change debate rages on with the left bordering on panic over President Trump’s dismissive attitude toward this issue in general, and the Paris agreement in particular. So who is right?
The peer-reviewed study by two scientists and a veteran statistician looked at the global average temperature datasets (GAST) which are used by climate alarmists to argue that recent years have been “the hottest evah” and that the warming of the last 120 years has been dramatic and unprecedented.
What they found is that these readings are “totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data.”
That is, the adjusted data used by alarmist organizations like NASA, NOAA, and the UK Met Office differs so markedly from the original raw data that it cannot be trusted.
If it is not possible to trust the data set used to describe past temperatures, then you can draw no meaningful conclusion on the issue of climate change. Pretty simple. However, the scientists who worked on this study describe their conclusions in more detail.
According to meteorologist Joe D’Aleo, who co-authored the study with statistician James Wallace and Cato Institute climate scientist Craig Idso, this has the effect of exaggerating the warming trend:
“Nearly all of the warming they are now showing are in the adjustments.”
“Each dataset pushed down the 1940s warming and pushed up the current warming.”
“You would think that when you make adjustments you’d sometimes get warming and sometimes get cooling. That’s almost never happened.”
So what does all this mean?
What this means, the report concludes, is that claims by NASA, NOAA, and the UK Met Office that the world is experiencing unprecedented and dramatic warming should be taken with a huge pinch of salt: they all use the same corrupted global average temperature (GAST) data.
The conclusive findings of this research are that the three GAST data sets are not a valid representation of reality. In fact, the magnitude of their historical data adjustments, that removed their cyclical temperature patterns, are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data. Thus, it is impossible to conclude from the three published GAST data sets that recent years have been the warmest ever – despite current claims of record setting warming.
To put things bluntly once again, what this means is that the whole of “climate science” needs to be reset to square one because the data on which all of these recommendations which always require new regulations, typically by global entities, are based on faulty data.
To contemplate a more bizarre result, imagine that the climate control advocates are right except they have it all backward. In that case, their panicked, draconian plans, if implemented, would actually hasten a crisis by making things worse.
Such is the danger of the mix of science and politics. We recall centuries ago, organized religion corrupting the work of a guy named Galileo. Things are not all that different today.
