I didn't have a model. This one was quick and it actually fell off of the armature and smashed half of her face, but I managed to get her back, and there she is. I am still in the process of making a mold. Actually she is encased in silicone and I need to make some time and get it finished.

Long ago, I came to the conclusion that artists - and you certainly are a good one - use their art as language and to express something deeply held. I really feel obtuse when I see a piece of magnificent work such as this and can't "hear" what is being communicated. Or worse, I misinterpret the message.
Looking at her, here's what I'm seeing: A pretty young mother who - from the set of her eyebrows and lips - is looking at something (perhaps a child's situation) and already knowing what needs doing to "set things a'right". I don't see anger but I do detect focus, patience and determination in her demeanor. But whatever it is, one knows her task WILL be accomplished.
I dunno, the Freudians and Jungians amongst us will probably tear me up .....

For me, I always hope a certain elegance and emotion will come through in my work, but I have to tell this piece was pure escapism.Wow, nice work, Rabbit, as everyone is saying.

At the time I was caring for my brother who was in the final stages of lung cancer and my mother who was dying watching her son die.
My studio was about as far as I could run and I threw myself into this piece and when I thought I had her, the best I could do anyway, she fell off the armature and flattened half of her face. I did get her back and that is the picture you see.
This piece always makes me sad. I don't guess artists are supposed to explain their work, the work explains itself, but that is where I was at the time. And I do appreciate your's and all the other kind comments it is encouraging. Thank you.

I am an artist -of sorts - or perhaps I should describe myself as a renderer. When I draw, which is rarely, I specialize in black-on-white line drawings and pointillism (using individual dots to create an image). Being red-green colorblind I've never tried much with painting and don't think I have any aptitude for sculpture.
I especially admire artists like Rabbit who have mastered media outside of my own capability.

Wish I had some artistic talent, but the good lord gave me all math and no art. My older Sister and younger Brother could draw pictures like it was no big thing, me I had a hard time doing stick figures. Your work on the other hand, I need to go get new socks, as I mine just have been blown off....

Your sculpture is really beautiful! I so admire folks with artistic talent. I can barely draw a stick person, or color between the lines.
