We planted this fig tree 6 years ago, and it never ever produced a single fig, and I was going to dig it out this year. My wife said to leave it for 1 more year, and boy howdy, these first figs are huge!! We don't even know what kind of fig it is.

Wow congrats!

We just bought some cuttings from a Jolly Tiger Fig this year after eating a few of them a few years ago, and rooted them. They are now in the early growth phase. Only a few years to wait!

How big was your tree when you first planted it?
I planted one last year, but it is only a foot tall so far.

My MIL had a fig tree for years until the great Texas freeze of ‘21 took it out. She was forever fighting the squirrels. They would always get the figs before she could. She tried fake owls and snakes, shimmery streamers, nothing worked. I hope your local squirrel population doesn’t discover it.

Squirrels, coons, and birds get most of my figs. Our tree is huge, but it looks like it's dying from drought. I hope it doesn't. We lost our last apple tree this year from drought even keeping it and the fig watered.

At one time, we had a beautiful and productive orchard and vineyard. Over the years, we've lost almost everything to drought.
