It may be a similar stance, but it is certainly not the intent of the LP to 'water us down'. It's just that they firmly believe in the 'melting pot' and want to promote it rather than restrict it.

We all probably have at least one stance in common with our mortal enemies, but that doesn't mean we want to go the exact same direction and for the same reasons.

Yes, there are moral, non-religious methods of determining what is right. However, it seems that this viewpoint is like a ship without a keel. Without God-given inalienable rights, how do you get to that point? What is the source of your natural law?

Recall that Thomas Hobbes wrote that in a state of nature, life was nasty, brutish and short. The "Leviathan" leads to a strong government. So again, I ask, from where do your natural laws come?
