There are two main reasons that I couldn't vote for Kerry and one sub-reason:

1. He voted against the ban on partial birth abortion.

2. He is against individuals owning guns.

A. Teresa would become First Lady. In her speech the other night she said that her husband John got his metals "the old fashioned way". I wonder how the young people who get metals these days do it? And, just what exactly is "the old fashioned way"? I think the woman would be almost as much of a disgrace to this country as Hillary was.

Kerry took time out of his campaign to return for only one vote in the Senate and that was to extend the so called " Assault " weapon ban. Had it passed such deadly weapons as the lever action 30--30 your Grandfather shot deer with could have been controlled. Can't have wackos running through the woods with Cop Killing 30 -- 30s. How about semi-auto shotguns ? Ever shoot a Remington 1100 ? They wanted to ban those also.

The whole " Assault " weapons ban is nothing but a step toward disarming the American public.


The guns look scary so we will make them illegal. And then the next type we can demonize and then the next.

Now to the heart of the matter. Do you really not understand why the Constitution specially barred the government from infringing the peoples right to keep and bear arms ?

You do know that the Right to bear arms is God Given, or if you prefer a Natural Right ? Not something the government has given us out of the goodness of it's heart ?

She is IMO, a honorable person.

While I disagree with her assessment of Bush, from her postings over the years I would not say she is a Liberal. SWR--- if that is wrong please correct me.

I must admit I was surprised by her statement regarding assault weapons. To me that seemed out of character for her. Perhaps she misspoke and meant to say something else. She writes much better than I do but I know there were times when I was trying to say something and in rereading what I posted it gave a much different message than what I had intended to convey.

Let's give her a chance to elaborate on what she meant and if she is a Liberal I will apologize for misidentifying her.

Mike, SWR usually, not always, usually speaks moore moderately. HER first post on this thread was moderate. It represented her opinion. My reply to her and brokenwings was sarcastic. SWR's second post was vitriolic. I think she is trying to force this thread off the front page.

Mike, I was taught that if you do not know the sex of a person you are writing about use male pronouns. Until I know the sex of a poster and assumimg I remember that is what I do. Thanks for reminding me.

I have read that we are in the midst of a cultural war. If situational ethics adopted by most liberals prevail our country will not be a country I would want to live in. When I read a person being anti guns I consider them my enemy.
