Looks like I'll start us off again this week. I'm getting somewhat worried about the price of meat based on what I'm reading, so I went off to the store and did some shopping. Now, I do have a fair amount of meat home canned, and an upright freezer that is full of various things, but I happen to like meat. So I cleaned out the upright freezer a bit and got rid of some really old stuff that was unidentifiable or not put up properly and rearranged some shelves. That made for some more room, so off to the store:

1 pack of chicken drummettes (1 meal)
1 pack of cube steak (1 meal)
1 pack of boneless pork ribs (2 meals)
1 package of chuck hamburgers (3 meals)
1 package of pork steaks (3 meals)
2 packages of london broil (a bogo--4 meals)

All are now vacuum sealed in meal sized portion and frozen. Total cost was $32.63. The london broil was a bogo, the rest were slightly marked down. There really wasn't much in the way of sales, but I took what I could get. Just have enough room in the freezer for about this much more, so I'll check again next week.

I work temp at a tax prep place during tax season and I've been getting a lot of hours this year (more than last year), so that will help with the paychecks.

I also refilled 2 prescriptions today and topped off my car. Haven't checked the Sunday sale papers yet to see what's out there, but will do that shortly.

What is everyone else up to?

Tomorrow is going to town/shopping day for me. I also want to look at buying more meat. The freezer is getting low and prices keep going up. I'll take a look at the grocery ads and update my list before I leave in the morning. I still have $92 left of January's food budget so I can afford to buy a few extra packages of meat. I do need to buy a bunch of regular groceries as I have only been to the store twice this month. I really hate to shop especially when temps are in the minus range!

There weren't any really great sales ads in the paper on Sunday, but I did get 2 more bottles of laundry detergent. I stopped at another grocery store on Monday on the way home from work and bought 3 packages of ground chuck. Today I went to Winn-Dixie and got 2 packages of the ground chuck patties at $3.49 a lb.-12 patties total. I also got another 2 packages of the boneless ribs that were marked down. So another 10 meals put away in the freezer.
