For the first time ever i checked something above watchful and ready. This corono virus has me a little spooked. Not ready for the bunker yet,but thinking about it.Some things are harder to mentally prepare for than others.Hard to fight an enemy you can't see.I am well prepped and can easily go into quarantine,But it still makes me nervous.

I am spooked but still a few tripwires from self isolation.

I am ready if needs be.
Still i'm not, or will, panic.

Cool pragmatic heads win.

Just running at normal awareness of potential major issue. Am monitoring the CDC site- 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

… and the normal news sites, personal contacts and Forums I go to

At first real indications this could be serious, double checked existing preps, filled minor holes and prep'd the rest of my family on potential and the policy that should be followed. Also pulled some masks, gloves, googles and plastic poncho's from my stores and took them to my grown children to flush out their existing kits for a just in case extra 30 days self quarantine.

IMHO this is NOT the hair on fire big one- yet. It has the potential to be, but the information that can be verified doesn't indicate it is even close to the point that we'd consider self quarantine. That doesn't mean we've written it off as a nothing burger, we're real interested in staying as informed as possible.

It is a great opportunity to check your preparations and fill any holes you have.

It's a great teaching moment for those who think their preppers. If you are now just running around trying to find proper masks, goggles, gloves and food to self quarantine, you're paying a lot more (if you can find the goods) than if you were really prepared. Hopefully you'll learn from this experience what being prepared and planning really mean.

Dang ... 56 anxiety polls ago I got the ball rolling on this, and here we still are.

The world has still not gone up in flames and I have not even had to lock down my bunker hatch anywhere along the way.

This time around though ... maybe so.

Glued to the screen, expecting the worst.

I could have voted twice. I'm a bit concerned, but I'm also watchful and ready. A bit concerned, because of the nature of this virus. Watchful and ready, because we're ready to go into quarantine at any time.

The virus thing to me is more dangerous just due to the economic impact. It kind of looks like a Black Swan that is circling to land.

Wow! I didn't realize we've been doing these polls for almost 16 years now! Time flies! :D

For the first time in quite some time, I clicked glued to the screen, because I am. Just want to stay on top of current happenings.

Likewise, I'm sure. Everything's been so bizarre lately I keep looking for the other shoe to drop. Michigan's winter has been behaving like spring. We're expecting a high of almost 50 this Monday. First couple days of February, and there's a 50 degree day! This isn't anywhere close to normal.

I picked "glued to the screen, expecting the worst any day now".
I am looking at a gene engineered virus mutating in real time as the closest I have ever come to Bunker Time.
There isn't anything else I can do at this point except keep up with the updates. It's a hel of a ride.

I'm a bit concerned, but watchful and ready.....just in case. Having recently moved, so much of our preps are still in boxes. The movers did a great job packing, not so good at labeling. We're still looking for our pots and pans?!? :bhd:

Not sure if I believe the engineered virus threat. I think that if anyone actually did attempt to manufacture a racially/ethnically targeted bio-weapon the very real threat of a runaway mutation would be far too great a risk of it backfiring on the maker. I would hope no one would EVER actually consider doing something SOOOOOO EXTREMELY STUPID!! However there seems of late to be no end to the level of idiocy the world is striving to reach.

With all that considered. It is only a matter of time, WHEN not IF a pandemic escapes and runs rough shod across the planet.

Every time I've answered this poll it's always been the same no matter what is happening.

I'm perhaps just a bit over that baseline now with the pandemic potential on the horizon. Went thru the medical preps and purchased another large box of nitrile gloves along with sanitation wipes. I did purchase more supplements and a few bags of dog food and another three cases of Mountain House but I was going to be doing that anyway. But if I was totally unprepared and considered the possibility of having to self quarrantine for a few weeks to a few months I wouldn't be as calm probably.

Disclaimer: I am keeping an eye on things but I have not bought anything extra at all.
I can, at any time day or night, order whatever I want online and have it delivered in just a couple or three days. If I get worried I will use that ordering option extensively.

I think the scenario that they were testing bio-weapons and the guards that were responsible for disposing of the testing animals sold them to a vendor at the wet market is a much more plausible scenario. We do know that they were testing bats in conjunction with coronavirus - so, it's not a huge step for this scenario to occur.

Watchful at this time because while there is not enough reliable information to make big decisions, there is enough to top off preps necessary for this situation while still possible. I expect supply chain problems at a minimum and will wait for more developments before lighting my remaining one or two strands of hair on fire.

Wrote glued to the screen, but really, mostly just ordinary prepping and work around the homestead, but manning the tb2k radar screen with MUCH more attention towards the flu reports than the Q thread or the impeachment farce.

At the various face books I follow there has been a huge influx of newbies totally freaked out. As well as on Reddit. I am watching and reply to inquiry posts with the basic, store what you use, use what yiu store, don’t waste money, think on your family’s routines and how to address a disruption in them, have small bills on hand for an emergency stash, ya da ya da.

Still expecting the worst any day now.

Not because of what I hear snd read. More due to what I am NOT hearing.

It is easier for me to drop it down a level than to ramp it up.

I'm with you FreeSpace. I am relying on this forum and top of the hour news for whats going on with regard to the corona-virus outbreak.

I'm prepped up for two adults, 2000 calories daily, with peanut butter, mayo, canned chicken and canned albacore tuna for 39 days. Usually keep a lower level of these items.

I also keep a weeks worth of Mountain House freeze dried entrees for two adults for my car bug out.

Got PPE and enough dry lentils, beans, and rice for three months.

So I'm good to go, but really am watching to determine when to pull the plug to self quarantine.

First One to Panic Wins

L.A.B.

Goodness before greatness.
Those in their bunkers are still several steps ahead of my precautions.

I would usually post, “going over checking on prep’s” but in answering ‘The 2020 Prediction Thread‘ I did (((pick up on))) the bio aspect of all that’s fair in love and... how about those Red Sock’s.

Sorry. Can’t be too straight forward between the lines of intuitive and hindsight being 2020 as it is.

Based on the seemingly calculated equation of what has been purported to have popped its ugly head out of a bowl of bat-$#!+ crazy cuisine...

Based on the ghost towns and the exodus of millions of Chinese throughout China and abroad...

Not counting those unknown carriers of the virus just going about their New Years or Business travel through Chinese and International airports allowing the virus 1st and 2nd class air travel privileges...

Still waiting upon official word of the contagion crossing ethnic lines...

And if not...

Why that is something else to be concerned about.

(I don’t do ‘freaked out’) as it degrades focus.

I am concerned about the panic button the media might be soon coddling [PANIC] for effect.

The logical Hegelian Dialectic only requires a little more momentum to take us places we really don’t want to go.

Hurry-hurry, step rite up. Through these gate’s lie the inoculation for the brave new whirld.

Yes, step rite up. Get it while it’s hot.

Voted watchful, ready. But I'm always pretty much at that level. I am devoting almost all my doom attention to the coronavirus though. Even ordered some Echinacea yesterday.

"Listening to all the good news, hoping for the worst" was not an option :D

Seriously, still in wait and see mode personally, doing a few obvious things to chink (ouch) holes in preps but nothing wild. The real news is nigh impossible to discern in these early days but the noise is deafening. No wonder people are going off the deep end so soon. I am grateful for all the experience I have had here in years gone by, it really does help damp down the oscillations.

The 56th Prepper Anxiety Poll ends with a final score of 2.18. This poll, unlike most prior polls, started at a moderate level and continued to increase in "anxiety score".

Thanks to all who responded, and keep an eye out for the next one.
