Neither here nor there.
I can't argue, but the local pizza place that used to have 10-20% of business as take out is now 80% take out with it almost all being door dash.....

That is a lot of door dash no matter how you figure it....

Couple that with everyone else cooking and eating at home and that's a lot of pots and pans flying out the door.

Now that you mentioned it the last time I talked to a friend who works at the local "Kitchen" store, they sell small appliances and high end cutlery, knives, pots and pans, and the like... think Le Crueset and that other really expensive brand IIRC it's Staub, and she said sales were way up since covid started.

Even our local HyVee has added a new "kitchen" store to their two super stores here in town since covid started.

Need a kitchenaide mixer and a pasta attachement, no problem! It's so weird to see someone grocery shopping with a stand mixer in their cart. They've also taken to putting out, on the end caps, recipe cards that tell you how to make the recipe and the equipment you will need, some of those cards are three to six pages, they're accordion fold booklets really.

Well either way people have to eat, be it take out or cooking at home. We've done some take out but we go there to pick it up, don't want to pay door dash to deliver.

Just returned from Smith's/Kroger. Just about everything was well stocked. Plenty of TP and PT, but the sign is still up indicating limit of one each. And there weren't any Ritz crackers. One guy in line had at least five or six carts full of food, but not very healthy looking. But that's the way things are out here--some people live a couple of hours from the grocery store. No one says anything about large orders or multiple carts around here.

I just got back from WalMart in suburban Memphis.

Store was pretty well stocked. Nothing I went to get was completely out, though they were thin on a few items. Like cottage cheese and pork-n-beans and cream of chicken soup.

But I didn’t notice anything totally out of stock.

Also, the place was a madhouse, there were so many people there. Looked like the day before Christmas.

But I did not see one person buying a TV, or other such “toys.” The checkout lines were excessively long, but what I was seeing was cart after cart of FOOD and water. And soda - of course...

I have been buying a little pasta here and there all summer long; then realized I might need some sauce, but didn't want to buy a bunch of jarred stuff. I started buying the packets of Spaghetti Sauce mixes; and small cans of tomato paste.

I’ve made this before. It’s easy to make with all pantry items. I added a splash of sherry and some Parmesan too.
Easy Spaghetti Sauce Recipe
Servings 8
Ingredients
  • (2) 15- ounce cans of tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 2 teaspoons basil
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon rosemary (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sage (optional)
  • Instructions
    • Add all of the ingredients in a large saucepan. Stir to combine.
    • Cook over a medium-high heat until the sauce comes to a boil. Then lower temperature to a low heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
    • Serve immediately over your cooked pasta.
