Cheaper run to Safeway than usual, but I was just buying sale items. The checker commented, "Wow, you did good!" I did point out all I had bought was on sale. She's pretty young - but she'll learn. I think one of the best ways I learned to budget was watching customers when I worked at a grocery store as a teen,

LOL! My kids swore I was the reason 2 grocery chains went bankrupt! I *only* bought loss leaders and things on really good sales. Several cashiers confided that they waited to make their weekly list until after I shopped, because they knew I had researched all the deals!

Wife is semi-passionate about her Mac's BBQ flavor chicharrones. We have always passed over the large barrels because the price per ounces also included a nice dividend for the barrel itself, which we don't otherwise use so the much smaller bags it was.

Had to hot W-M yesterday for the pharmacy and had a 20 minute wait for a refill so went wandering with a cart. They had the Mac's on close-out for $3/barrel, or about 40% of list. The bags are $2.38 for a 5 oz bag and the barrel is 11 oz. She made me stop after snagging her 7 barrels. :hugs:

Elsewhere on the discount cart were Reeses peanut butter cup badges. $0.50 each. 4 of those for her home room teacher. Red, white and blue wrapped Hershey's kisses for more than 1/2 off. Yep, snagged a bag for her classroom. Kit-Kat birthday cake, $0.50 instead of $1.17. She snagged 4 of those and took 2 with her today for her kid.

At least the meds were ready when we went back that way.

I've got to motivate up to the local/regional this afternoon to pick up the meat specials before they are over. The good Minnesota Gold bacon (in-store sliced) @ $4.94/lb., boneless country style ribs - $2.49/lb. and Hillshire Farms brats - $3.49/19 oz.

Not earth-shattering, but about as good as it gets these days.

I just looked up the price of the small bottles of Skin so Soft anti itch spray. $25 for a small bottle, doable if you are desperate, but pretty expensive if you are looking to stock up. However from my heavy stocking up days I have three bottles with the sprayer. I'm glad I stocked up on things before they got so expensive, at least some things.

You know those big bags of generic cereal that are on the bottom shelves at Kroger type stores?

I know I’ve seen generic coco krispies.
At our store anyway. But maybe your stores don’t carry that one

I'll check again next week. Our store only carries those absolutely huge bags that are equivalent to roughly 3 boxes of cereal, and I don't think dh could eat a whole one before it went stale. Wonder if I could freeze it without it getting mushy...

I think you can
It’s worth it id think to try it out once. Especially for prepping and to hedge against price increases to have extra on hand

Idk but try out a bag to freeze! I’d love to know!

My cousin in Surprise, AZ.... called and her Costco has chickens that were in plastic bags and the size of grocery store chickens but were still $4.99 also not seasoned
We were at Costco here in Central Virginia a couple of days ago and the chickens here were normal...big in the 2 piece containers and still seasoned and still $4.99
