Skin Problems

OK, I'm trying to come up with what condition of skin problem my wife has, but won't go to the doc to get diagnosed. Her mother has a similiar condition, here goes:

Patches of her skin loose all pigment, (turn white). Now that,s not the worse condition, but may be an indicator. Over the years, her skin on her hands has gotten very thin. Her hands and fingers bruise very easily, If she tucks in a sheet, she will have a blood blister type of abraison appear. If she lightly bumps her hand/finger on the counter for example, she gets a nasty wound, bleeding is some what difficult to stop. At times, I've had to apply cayanne to the wound to stop the bleeding. This wound turns into a nasty blood blister bruise, and takes weeks to heal. Even her rings moving on her finger may cause a wound or blood blister.

Any ideas???

Many skin and bleeding problems respond to Vitamin A&D. This one is for pigment problems. Vitamin B Complex builds the blood and Platletts that help with coagulation. A blood blister is called a hematoma and this is blood trapped under the skin with plasma to protect the underlying tissue from further injury. I would also get her on a good vitamin and mineral complex from whole foods. I use Natures Sunshine. You can order it on the net. If you want it at cost use #9060918.

You might also have her doctor run a glucose panel. Diabetes presents the ulceration sores that take a long time to heal. A trip to the doctor would also be a good idea and you can take it from there. Many diseases need medical help this one is a head's up to me. Good luck and tell us how it turns out.

I would definitely get her on a multi-vitamin and make sure she's getting a little sunshine for vitamin D. You might want to try an Essential Fatty Acid supplement also as it contains fish oil which is good for the skin too.

The white patches: A friend of mine and her mother both get these when under stress. It it's the same thing, it's related to female hormones on some level. The mother started getting it for the first time around menopause, a bit before, and the daughter started getting it after having most of her ovaries removed due to cysts.

Many thanks for the ideas so far. We do a regiment of vitamin/mineral suppliments. Also take flax seed oil daily. I wish I could get her to a doctor, just to rule out the diabetes, but she won't go. She has a very low regard for doctors and their abilities today. She's seen many people get mis-diagnosted, and says why bother. We are both into herbal and alternative medicine, and in our 50's.

Easy bruising and bleeding is a MAJOR sign of diabetes guy. Get her to a doc or at least to a lab to get a glucose blood test. There is nothing herbal/alternative that I am aware of that will help diabetes. It means you pancreas/Ilse of Langerhans are dying and not producing the correct balance of insulin for the body's function. There is not much chance of misdiagnosis if the blood sugar level is very high. 120 is the upper limit of normal.

I'll see if I can get her to at least get some blood work done. She won't go have an annual physical!
