AR 3615 woke up this morning with a rapid M7.1 solar flare peaking at 06:29 UTC (Mar 28). So far it does not appear that a CME will be associated with this event.
Solar ham is now saying it’s an x flare. I’m on my phone and am unable to post.AR 3615 woke up this morning with a rapid M7.1 solar flare peaking at 06:29 UTC (Mar 28). So far it does not appear that a CME will be associated with this event.

Cosmic Thunderbolt Will Strike The Earth - Thunderbolt of the Gods
“Perhaps the survivors of the next one will draw it on rock”….
just a reminder: it’s considered very impolite and in bad form to make suggestions of where such a cosmic thunderbolt would meet with one’s enthusiastic approval, such as from NYC to DC, or say “wherever that rock is that Jed Turtle is hiding under… “It's possible!
Looks like the 5th we are in the yellow for a geometric storm but in the red for the 6th could be a interesting couple of days

They say the Cme will miss us.
Strong Solar Flare Detected |
May 6, 2024 @ 06:40 UTC (UPDATED) |
A major solar flare reaching X4.52 (R3 Radio Blackout) was detected around AR 3663 in the northwest quadrant at 06:35 UTC (May 6). This is now the 3rd strongest solar flare in terms of peak X-Ray flux during the current Solar Cycle 25. Coronal dimming to the north of the region is evident in the latest imagery meaning somewhat of a CME should be expected. Whether there is an Earth directed component or not will be answered once new coronagraph imagery is available. CME Update: Coronagraph imagery courtesy of STEREO Ahead shows a small, northerly directed CME leaving the Sun following the X4 solar flare this morning. Much like all of the other flares around 3663, it should be directed well off the Sun-Earth line. |
