Some Of My Photography - California Mountains & Wildflowers

This is best viewed at 1080 and at full screen......................

Got the camera on the ground again, just a collection of photo's that I have taken. California mountain landscapes, Koda, my Akita/Husky mix, some of my cats and lots of California wildflowers.

Used a Nikon D700 and Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 / Sigma 150mm 2.8 Macro to capture the images mostly in the California Sierra Nevada mountains.

I can't describe how impressed I am! Your framing on your landscape shots are FANTASTIC! Framing is so important.
The timing of your presentation was perfect as well with one shot blending into the next.

For our 25th anniversary my DW got me a Canon EOS 60D. It is way smarter than me and so I'm still in the way rookie phase of using it.

I'm at least 10 years behind in pics compared to you.

Plus all that, you have a true artist eye. God don't hand out those to just anybody.

Very nice. You should change the timing so the pics stay on the screen a little longer. Cal. is a beautiful state, too bad the nuts in Sacramento have killed it.

Thanks for the rally nice comments, appreciate it. That was very nice of your wife to get you the Canon, I've alwaya been a Nikon person though I start with a Pentax K10D as my 1st DSLR and decided to go for broke and get a really good Nikon about 3 years ago when I decided to give my hand a try at Stock photography.

I rarely show any of my work to anyone, just sell it at microstock agencies.

I actually specialize in in food because it is not an over saturated market at the online Stock agencies and it sells really good and I don't have to worry about it going out of style, a Taco is still going to look like a Taco 20 years from now. I guess I was born with a photographers eye, I've taught myself everything and my framing just comes naturally to me, I just shoot the way I see it.

Thanks FireDance, Glad you enjoyed it, I think I watched it 4 times before I put it up on youtube today.

Thank You Watchman2.

Secamp32, Thanks, I was torn between the length to use, I kinda like how I have it but 2 more seconds o the image would be good also. My next one I'll do longer, this one was 6 seconds on the image with a 3 second transition and that gives about a 2 second actual view of the image, think if I do 8 seconds on the image I'll be good.

Thank you Seabird....

Glad you enjoyed it Petunia.

Thank you for the nice compliment Hope4mil.

Be Well, Thank you, I really try to add background music that fits and enhances the viewing experience.

Thank you Red Baron, I am glad it works as intended, to have a visual and audio relaxing experience, thnks for the nice compliment.

Thank you Deena in Ga...

And everyone else, thanks for taking the time to watch, appreciate all you nice comments.

Next video will be Mexican food...viva Taco's...!!!

Don, your presentation was a journey across decades to a time of very pleasant memories for me. A time in California that I no longer believed still existed. Wonderful!

Thank you so much for a really beautiful, and a fulfilling presentation.

Wow, that was beautiful!! I'm headed to El Dorado County and looking forward to the views, Hangtown, and seeing family for a week before scooting back to Idaho.
Thanks for sharing. P.S. Loved the cats!!

Great pictures but the dissolve rate was way too fast, I didn't get a chance to enjoy them as I would have liked to, 3 seconds each would be nice but your video would be 24 minutes (worth it)-they'd be great screen savers.

Enjoyed it, Don. I used to know some fellows who worked at the Air Force Audiovisual Service at Norton AFB. One of them specialized in photographing old barns and homesteads and ghost towns. Another had over 20,000 images which he would sell to catalog publishers and the like. All this was back in the 35mm days, long before digital cameras and computers became available. One of those guys eventually became blind due to his exposure to nuclear blasts during the testing during the cold war, when he was active duty Army. Ended his career as a photographer, it did.

I especially liked your critter photos. Noticed in one of the Akita shots that his harness didn't seem to pass over his right shoulder; I don't see well, so I might just be mistaken. My favorites were your cat shots; a guy who likes and appreciates cats just can't be all bad, don'cha know, Don.

Is there some reason you didn't have any shots of wild critters other than the fish? I realize that they generally aren't sitting there waiting for you to snap a shot; but in my wanderings in the Sierras and the Mojave, I've seen enough bears, coyotes, cougars, and rattlers and other lesser critters to make me wish I'd had a good camera with me to capture the images. Was up near Mineral King one day, eating my lunch in the vehicle, when a large sow popped up right outside my window to check me out. Had two cubs with her. Fortunately, I'd anticipated some such surprises and had closed my windows accordingly. Ranger told me later that she was a known troublemaker and that I'd been lucky I didn't get attacked.

I worked at Beale AFB for a few years and got up into the Sierras whenever possible for some prospecting, rockhounding, and just exploring. Beautiful country. But by the time I left in '93, it was just jam-packed with tourists and city types, and their vehicles and kids, which pretty much ruined it for me.

(I second the motion for a longer delay for each shot; I like to look at them critically, and need more time than you provided.)

Anyway, I'm glad that you are enjoying the area and your hobby. Good luck with it!
