The 'New and Improved' Butterfingers Are On Shelves Now

Butterfingers made with the new recipe are officially on shelves—and the brand just rolled out its "Better Butterfinger" ad campaign to go along with its “new and improved” formula.

The bizzare 1-minute commercial, that will be featured across multiple cable and network channels, features a Butterfinger-loving alien.

The "Better Butterfinger" campaign “introduces an irreverent character in the Butterfinger alien, a fun and entertaining way to embody the personality of the brand,” according to the release, so it looks like the martian is here to stay.

The company is even updating its tagline—albeit by one word: “Nobody lays a finger on my better Butterfinger," says the alien.

The changes, which include a different type of peanut, more cocoa, and cutting out certain ingredients used in the original, will produce a bar with “more crispety, crunchety, peanut buttery goodness,” according to a press release from Ferraro, Butterfinger’s parent company.

We tend to be skeptical about formula changes (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it), but initial reviews of the changes have been positive.

Business Insider says the revamp "keeps the iconic texture while slightly dialing back on the sweetness and ratcheting up the peanut flavor for a more complex treat."
