method 1, quick soak
bring peas & water to a boil, boil 5 min., cover & let soak for 1 hr., to get thermos ready bring some water to a boil & put in thermos, when 1 hr is up drain peas. dump water in thermos and put peas in thermos add fresh boiling water, put cap on and lay on side, let stand over night (6/8hrs) when ready to use it will need to be cooked for about 45 min.

method 2, overnight soak
soad peas over night in water, next day, to get thermos ready bring some water to a boil & put in thermos, drain peas. dump water in thermos and put peas in thermos add fresh boiling water, put cap on and lay on side, let stand over night (6/8hrs) when ready to use it will need to be cooked for about 45 min.

either way it will take about 24 hrs and 45min of additional cooking time.

I once saw on people use this method with any dehydrated vegetables, such as brocolli, carrots, etc.. Just put them in a thermos with boiling water to rehydrate. I think they sometimes added seasoning and powdered milk and voila!, instant soup...
