There is a circuit in the oil pressure sensor that will stop the engine if it loses oil pressure. It will allow the engine to start but shut it off it there is no pressure after a few seconds.
A friend had an s10 truck that did this. If the car has an OBD1 computer there should be a connection under the dash to check power to the fuel pump on the A.L.D.C. If this is the trouble it will be fairly easy to fix.
Good Luck

If the chip is in the actual key and not in the big plastic head, it can be bypassed with a resistor, if that is the actual problem. It is a very simple fix by measuring the resistance of the key and splicing a matching resister into the wire at the switch. If you are not familiar with wiring you should maybe check with another shop as this has been an issue since they came out. Good luck.

NB is right...most of the older GM systems {passkey and passkey II} can be bypassed rather easily. Bwfore doing that, check the two small wires in the steering column. It is quite common on tilt columns for the wires to break, sometimes without breaking the insulation. Again, an easy fix. Good luck, let us know how it goes!
