I don't have the space for that, but I can create multiple smaller spaces. I'm about to go watch where I can be comfortable and take notes. If only because I'm hoping that they will have some information on LED grow lights as well. I'm still using fluorescents because the LED information is so scattered.

I have a grow tent in my basement but it’s much smaller than that. It’s maybe 4x8. Waiting for my seed order to arrive so I can start some lettuce and maybe kale. I found last year that the grow lights combined with the dry winter air makes everything dry out quickly. You really have to be on top of watering. It’s also helpful to have a timer for the light cycles. I forgot to shut the lights off a few times last year and I think it screwed with things.

Go to the YT video, he has links. You can purchase smaller units, and yes also the LED grow lights.

What kind of water do you use for watering your plants. I'm thinking a 4x6 unit would be big enough for the two of us. I'd love to grow my own lettuce, kale, and chard, maybe some radishes, during the winter months.

I've still got tomato plants producing and even flowering! They live on the back deck when it is warm, come in when it is cold.tom.jpg

Oh man to have a fresh tomato about now! Will have to wait until the Guatemalan tomatoes arrive around mid January, talk about a treat tomatoes that actually smell and taste like a tomato. It's sorta like when we get Hatch Chili peppers from New Mexico in August of each year.

i Usually fill up gallon jugs of regular tap and let them sit out overnight to let the chlorine dissipate.

I have well water like the guy in the vid, but it didn't seem to harm my plants in 5gal buckets this year.
The guy in the vid seemed a bit overly paranoid about a lot of things. Pretty sure his well water does okay by his outside garden. But whatever floats his boat.
My thing with LED lights is I want the specs and science behind them. I understand the fluorescent lights and why I need certain bulbs. But the available info for LED is all over the place. "It has to be this color!" "It has to be this strength!" It has to x, y, z with little to no supporting information.
And due to a project for son, I happen to have reflective mylar on hand. And the "bubble wrap" insulation. But that seems like overkill unless regulating the house temps is a problem. (It is a problem in my office.) Yes, pot growers use that, but that's because they are typically trying to grow in cold basements and recreate outside environments from scratch. I have windows and full spectrum bulbs through out the house. And timers for the direct on plants bulbs that keep them lit up for the extra daylight hours they need. But at some point, I'm going to have to switch from fluorescent to LED because the fluorescent bulbs are becoming harder to find.
