[VOTE] Your right to vote has been purchased

HEADS UP!!!

Your right to vote has been purchased for you by those who have paid for it, in the only acceptable currency. Namely blood, sweat, tears, and sometimes even lives. I think I speak for all my comrades-in-arms, past, present, and future, when I say;

I don't give a rats as* who tries to interupt this election. We have paid too high of a price for anyone to give it up. VOTE!!! There may well be nobody or nothing you feel is worth voting for, but I assure you there will be somebody or something you want to vote against.

HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE AND DO SERVE, VOTE.

We already paid the admission price at the polling station.

Looks like a big turnout.
I got there 10 minutes before 6:00 AM and was the 21st in line.
When I finished voting two lines out the door and the parking lot was crowded with those trying to leave and those trying to get in.

I'l just be glad when its over. I am also so happy, that even if we don't know tomorrow who the pres is, we won't have to look at any more of those damned ads.

This election, more than any in the past 30 years, will determine the direction of the United States for decades to come. VOTE, dammit! I don't care who you vote for or against, just make sure you vote.

Local report, Camden Maine -- 15 minutes before the polls opened this morning, the line at the school was out the door, through the parking lot, and down the street. Well over 100 people in that tiny town waiting patiently on a frosty November morning to make sure their voices were heard. Thousands of people have already voted as absentees to avoid the lines -- 150 yesterday alone in the mill town of Westbrook, outside Portland. Maine holds the record for voter turnout in an election -- 73 percent -- and there isn't a person in the state who doesn't think that record will be broken today.

****MONSTER TURN OUT****

It is not unusual for us to go to the polls at 0700 and be # 2 and 3.

It IS however VERY UNUSUAL for there to be a SIX in front of the 2 and 3.

I have voted at the same precinct for 25 years.

This is the FIRST time I have EVER seen the line out to the flags at 0700. Took us 75 mins to get to the voting machines.

For those of you unfamiliar with how Ohio does things, the flags are by law 100 feet from the polling place (ie the room with the machines).

the turnout is GREAT!!! Don't care WHO it favors.

Right or wrong, win or lose, MORE PEOPLE WILL HAVE HAD THEIR SAY THAN AT ANY OTHER TIME IN LIVING MEMORY!!!!!!!

Just got home from voting. LOTS and LOTS of people. Never ever seen it like that.
Everything went smooth and was well organized. We got there 10 min after precinct opened and about 150 people were in front of us. We were worried that we would not get in to vote before I had to take hubby to work. We had 45 minutes. Figured we'd give it a shot and if we didn't make it - would line up again after he got off from work. We made it though, voted and I got him to work by 759. He's never been late in 22 years! Whew!

Still about same amount of people in line when we left and that is unreal because this is a very small precinct. The voting machines were great - straight forward - no nonsense & fast.

GO VOTE!

I vote in the afternoon. However, the line was beginning to form when I dropped my daughter off for school. I am taking her into the poll with me this evening, so she can see that voting is somewhat painless.

< Yes, I do look like that.
Passed a polling center on the way to work. Line was out the building, out to the parking lot, out to the street, and along the street for about twenty yards or so. Looked to be about 100 people in line, waiting patiently as near as I could tell, at 7:30 in the morning.

This may be the largest voter turnout in recent history.

Freedom Isn't Free
Just got back. I waited in line for about 35min. which is very unusual for my precinct. I can usually walk right in, vote, and walk out. Very organized and no problems. Just color in the ovals. No cameras, no lawyers, no foreigners, and no party harassment.

Im leaving work now, trying to wait for the "Im going before work" people to finish, and hopefully beat the "I'll go at lunch" people!

When I drove by at 7:45 the line was out the door and a full block down the street. Im bringing a magazine. Just hope I dont have to pee!!!

I've taken my daughter with me for the 2002 elections and I'll take her with me for today's poll. It's a wonderful opportunity to explain that this is her birthright and what it took in the past and what it will take in the future for us to continue to be able to go to the polling place and make our voices heard.

On TB every waking moment
voted. got there 15 minutes before they opened. had two lines going on. line A south of "street ABC", line B north of "street ABC". my line "B" only had 4 people ahead of me; line A was wrapped around the building. all were nice people, except for the woman behind me. gripe, moan, complain. CA people are stupid, should be computerized voting, blah, blah, blah. Made my mind up for Pres because of her though.

Little 'ol Saint John's County was hopping this morning.

The line to vote was huge, and this is just a small, unpopulated county. 300+ people waiting on line at 7:00 A.M. This is not the norm. Then when I got up to check in, there was a red flag on my name. The lady freaked a bit, and said out loud was I legal... Everyone stared at me. It turns out that--because I registered online, they needed more proof of who I was. No prob. I finally got to vote. Praise God.

Florida is awash in double-checkers, and that is just fine with me. :D

VOTED

Went to the polling place at 11:30; out at 11:43. Name verified on the list; signature authenticated; ballot in hand; booth open. No muss, no fuss. Everyone was cordial, helpful and polite.

Thank you to all who have secured this privilege of voting; to those who work diligently to ensure that the voting is conducted in peace and security; and to those darling "oldsters" who man the tables and give us our directions.

Tires Slashed in Milwaukee

FOX just reported that Republicans had rented a fleet of cars for their get out the vote effort. Giving rides to the polls. Anyhow, when they went to pick up the cars, the entire fleet had their tires slashed. Now this crap really sucks! :kk1:

Random thoughts

I voted at about 10 a.m Only had to wait about 20 minutes.
I asked the lady who collected my ballot how the turn out had been thus far,
she said "Huge".
I vote at an elementary school a couple blocks from my house. There was an armed police officer roaming the hall, and one plain clothes cop (someone I know).
This has never happened before.
My friend's daughter, age 22, works in Grand Rapids, about 80 miles away, but is registered to vote here. She took the day off, got up at 6 a.m. (a major deal for her) and drove here to vote.
I'd say 75% of the people I talk to are voting for Bush. There were no comments about candidates while I was waiting in line. Everyone was quiet, like they were doing their solemn duty.
I feel very nervous, I don't know why.... :usfl:

Just got back from my polling place. Waited about 30 minutes in line (I live in a very small precinct), have never had to wait anytime before. One of the election judges told me that they already had more people vote by noon than they had all day long in the last election.

Great news for a great turn-out!

Right on neighbours!

Yuur people are speaking & WILL have been heard. Everything I'm seeing here - your networks, our networks are saying not only is this looking to be the largest turnout in recent memory but has a damned good chance at turning out to be a record period.

Good stuff.

Gonna be an interesting evening. And along night. I just hoe the stupidity is kept to a minimum - pretty good so far.

Voted and welcomed by George the Bald Eagle

Nothing would have stopped me from Voting.

I happened to bury my brother in law today who died at a young age of 51.

His widow( My sister) and her kids all went out to vote as a family after they left the cemetery.

My husband an I voted later(since we are from a different area).

I found it rather ironic that at our Voting Precinct (which happens to be a Barn used as an Environmental Center) had a worker standing outside with a Bald Eagle named George.

The center houses animals that have been hurt and no longer can live in the wild due to their injury. George had been hit by a car-his one wing was broken and he was blind in one eye so he could no longer fly. " But his injuries and setbacks did not stop his determination to go on!" He was strong, proud and sensed what was going on around him.

We spend some time with George- wished him luck and voted.

By the way the Bald Eagle George had not influenced us in our vote.

We had been firm on voting for George Bush .

Just like the Eagle George, George Bush has expereinced the Injuries of our country (9-11) and other setbacks during his Presidency . It has not stopped his will and determination to do what he felt is right for this country .

In my precinct there was over sixty percent turn out with about three hours left to vote when I got there at three pm. 330 of some 500 registered voters already passed through the curtain. Alas, no one payed any attention to me when I was behind the current pulling the lever. Another flunked casting call, oh well.
