Trailers Water filters

I think having a filter in the supply line going into the RV would be a good idea. What about a pressure regulator. I have seen well water at RV parks with sediments. My Puma has the WaterPur system installed, but other brands may not.

My last TT, had the hot water heater spring a leak. After installing a new one, I looked inside the old one, it had a lot of sediment/sand in the bottom, where the leak was. I bought one of the cheap Culligan water filters and added it to the supply line for the trailer. I don't know how long it worked, but it did well for the couple more years I had it.

The WaterPur on my Puma says 20,000 gallons. My brother told me about filters they use to filter water to commercial chicken houses that you change a filter cartridge, I will check with the poultry supply dealer next week.

The Culligan had a replaceable filter. In fact, I saw them at Ace just yesterday, so I guess Culligan is still making that style of filter. BTW, it was only good for sediments, did not work on chemicals. When I put the filter on my Jayco, I think it was $19 for the canister & filter. The filters alone I saw yesterday were in a two pack for $12. LOL, 14 years makes a difference.

I'm using my Big Berkey for anything consumable with water, guess I'll have to live with what ever comes out of the tap for washing me, clothes, dishes, etc.

I use the cheap filters from Wal Mart and change them every 90 days, unless we've been parked.

Filtered water for drinking and cooking is fine, but my concern is protecting the hot water heater and plumbing and holding tanks if you have them. I have a rental park with my Cavaliers as "cabins" . We have well water so I filter all water. One or two hot water heaters in a month was worth the effort.

You have a good point, but I just have the one to live in, surely wouldn't want to supply berkey filters for a rental. But they are just the best for filtering out really nasty stuff. I'll be on a water line but would also like to have a well, the well water in my area is good water and the water line water is nasty with chemicals.
