Nice looking terraces, Terry!

Had a good day yesterday with family out for Easter Dinner; it was absolutely gorgeous outside so that is where we spent most of the day. My grandsons were the only little ones, so they were doted on and spoiled all day long :) My new water tanks, alas, will not fit through any of the doors to get in to the house and down the stairs - the guys tried & tried. Guess we'll be building in an insulated room in the machine shed for them...

Hubby is about 2-3 days behind me in cold symptoms, so he's pretty wiped out today. Which means I won't be getting any tilling done as he's got a bit of maintenance to do on the T-B Horse before I can use it. I did get some things moved around out in the garden, and a patch that was let go last year burned off, so once the tiller is good to go, I'll have plenty of work I can do. I'm looking forward to a productive year this year - just hope that I'll have the time to take care of it!!

Well, I'm off to find some leftovers for lunch, then head to bed for a before-work nap - I work 12's Monday and Tuesday nights; then have three days off before I have to go back to work. I'll keep the boys Wednesday evening while daughter works - that's her late night; then possibly again on Friday night; depends on the weather as I do need some time that I can get things done outside without boys underfoot :) Hmm... I wonder if my neighborhood Rent-a-Kid is done with track season yet...

Friday and Saturday, among other things, 15 year old and I pulled apart my 10 year old son's room. Most of the "younger kid" type toys are now out of his room and ready for donation which I hope to do tomorrow. I did pack up some toys that I am keeping for the future ... Mr. Potato Heads and parts, Lincoln Logs, and some other items like that. They are timeless so if we have grandkids - or potentially adopt though we are feeling less and less likely that that is to be our calling - they'll still be useful.

We'll be eating leftover for a couple of days and that's fine by me. I developed some kind of slow moving virus and I feel pretty cruddy. I'd love to just go to bed and not get up for a week but that's not happening.

As for other preps, tomorrow we'll probably do some work in the garage which is basically climate-controlled storage for me. That and business-related chores will probably be all I get to before hubby and older daughter comes back on Thursday. Just too beat to get to anything else.

I think (or shall I say, I hope) we have had our last freeze, so I planted squash and green beans last week. One local store had a great sale on baking supplies right before Easter, so I was able to pick up some bargains.

Traditionally, there are always great meat sales in May, right before Memorial Day. I don't know if that will happen this year, but if it does, I plan to stock up.

I think I've rested up from the final tax season sprint. I have other work today, including an appointment tomorrow with a client for my other business. I've been catching up on little stuff and trying to get ready for my trip that starts in less than three weeks.

At Publix I bought 4 boxes of pasta for a grand total of 18 cents with sales and coupons. I don't prep much pasta anymore as we have a major problem with weevils, but the freezer is stuffed full in every nook and cranny now. I'll hit Office Depot tomorrow and stock up on printer ink using the Surprize Card from last month and a gift card I have. I'll also hit Sports Authority and get another pair of wool socks (coupon and gift card). I discovered when I started getting my things ready for my trip that I only had three pair of wool socks in the longer lengths, and I want another pair for the trip.

Oh, and we got a kitten yesterday. We are now up to six cats, but the oldest is 17, and the two after that are 14, so it was time to start introducing some new blood. We had a kitten last year, but he died at 6 months of an incurable genetic disease. Hopefully this little one will be fine. She went to the vet today to get her first shot and dewormer and to get checked out. She's 9 weeks old and a kind of orange cream tabby.

prudentwatcher,

I know what you mean about the cats getting older. Ours are pretty much all senior citizens now. We get some dropped here, so I'm not looking for any ATM.

Today I got a new engine for an old wood splitter. I'd bought the splitter from a friend and he threw in a push mower on the deal that had a good engine I could use for this little splitter (2 1/2" cylinder x 24" and 3 1/2 HP engine). The push mower was good, so I decided to keep it as-is and buy a new engine for the splitter to have both in good shape. I paid $125 for the splitter and mower deal, and today $119 for the new engine. For about $250 I have both.

Ahem. Well, as soon as I do the work to get it put together, that is. ;)

I ended up getting 2 pair of wool socks, and with the coupon and what was left on my gift cards, I paid 68 cents out of pocket for them both. Not a bad deal at all.

Then I went to Winn Dixie--they had the Oscar Meyer all beef hot dogs on sale. I bought 5 packages for the freezer. It's sad when hot dogs cost almost $6 a package at the normal price (these were $2.99). I also got another 2 packages of sliced cheese for grilled cheese ($1.99 for 16 slices) to add to the freezer-think I got 4 last time they were on sale, so we should be good for a while. Freezer is about ready to bust. Also found a nice little roast in the mark down bin that I will make next week sometime for dinner. We haven't had a good roast in a long time.

Tuesday after visiting a client I went to Walmart and bought some more new underwear. Can't have too much underwear :)

Nothing else is on sale. I topped off the gas tank--gas was $3.79 at the cheapest station around here. Glad I don't have to drive much now. Starting to get too warm outside for me and time for the ac to come on.

We set up our first raised bed garden in this new home yesterday and planted some blackberry bushes along the back fence line to get them started. Planning to plant tomato plants this evening when the sun starts dropping some and we saw the first rabbit we've seen so far in our yard -- not good for the garden plan, but hey if things get really tough I see bunny trapping as a possibility! *lol*
