We went to an auction last night That we go to from time to time. They had a case of N95 masks at $3 a box. I don't know why I only got two boxes, maybe'ts because I have about 100 n95 masks already. Not one other person wanted any. And I got six boxes of DayQuil HBP Cold and Flu at $2 a box. One other person got two boxes. Not one damn prepper in the lot. I feel like an alien when I'm out around people. One fellow did say that at some point we may all be wearing masks, but didn't buy any.

Most of the other items they offered were junk. Sometimes they have a fellow that has a lot of food, but not last night. DH got an electric chain saw, a miter saw and a bug whakker.

We used to go to those kinds of auctions back when we lived in AL. Most of the stuff was the cheap Chinese made crap that had also taken over at the flea markets.
I am guessing since China is locking down, now the small time auction sellers and flea market sellers, ebay sellers will have to resort to other offerings.
There are good buys still available, don’t get me wrong it’s just the whole second hand industry seemed to have gotten flooded cheap Chinese products.

Im looking for one, what did you get, and how good does it work? do you have a link to where you got it?

The models that I was looking at on AMZ last weekend were $30-ish. Now they're $40-ish. So, I decided that bare-bones was adequate for me and I went with something inexpensive ($24) but well reviewed (4.6/5): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NVFZ1B3

That said there are *many* similar products available on the site.

I haven't received it yet, but can follow-up on that later, if you like.

Folks talking about rice... wife gets carried away and even forgets how much of we have of various items and I have to tell her no more rice.

So funnny. You could have written that about me and it would be equally true.

I like to buy the 20 pound bags of Basmati at Sams Club from time to time.

I have purchased no masks at all. I cannot think of a reason to buy any. If things get bad enough so I think I need to wear a mask, I'll just stay home instead. But more food and other supplies are always a good idea.

Buy them.now. This stuff is spreading but not being taken seriously.

Anyone planning to quarentine themselves needs to consider how to decontaminate any packages or mail or if it goes on long enough food deliveries. This is me thinking people are going to keep others far from your house and just go out to pick stuff up left in driveway or whatever. Far from your house, windows, doors, and you and your stuffs.

Anyone planning to put on a mask and go where they are worried about the virus needs to decide how far they wish to go. You can play on youtube and watch videos of military folks putting on a gas mask and suit. And decontaminating that suit and mask before taking it off.

You put a mask on and go someplace with the virus you might want to consider that the mask helps your lungs and if you have eye protection then that is good as well. But virus on those things and your clothes and shoes and car and whatever else is a concern.

I am planning to limit trips to crowded areas as best I can, but I hit my limit fast on how many masks and stuff I need cause it is kinda like ammo except I like practicing with ammo. I don't wanna practice bleach water spray down in the driveway to wash away/kill virus on me and stripping down and going inside.

When does one really stop all going out or receiving all packages. For me no more ordering after the end of February, if I don't have it by then then I most like don't need it or will do without.

I will wear gloves when handling mail (and set it outside in the sun), but I'm not convinced that the masks will help much. I think avoiding crowds and public places is my best bet.

Both Walmart and HyVee (grocery) offer online shopping with store pick up. That would expose me to one employee. Many groceries could be handled with gloves, opened, and the containers left outside in trash cans (or burned).

Books/media can be downloaded online from the library (and other online services).

It also exposes you to everyone the employee has had contact with. While I consider picking up your groceries in the parking lot safer then going into the store at no time would I consider it safe.

I've often pointed all to my two favorite supplements
that have kept me illness free for over a decade here...
www.ki4u.com/health.htm
What I have not emphasized, that I also mention there,
is another supplement that I take daily (topically and/or
internally) that is a very powerful free radical scavenger
and anti-inflammatory & diuretic. Controversial DMSO,
is worth a closer look, IMO, for dealing w/ complications
from CoronaVirus lung fluid build up. It has been used
to reduce cranial pressure from both stokes & trauma.
It's some amazing stuff, also used in fluid bath to better
preserve transplanted organs while in transport. It also
freezes at 64F, briskly absorbs through skin carrying in
whatever dissolved in it, and is wetter than water, etc.
DMSO is cheap, though the best book all about it isn't...
Anyways, I think DMSO is worth a closer look now for
possibly being another valuable tool against this latest
CoronaVirus threat, both for it's direct effects, and it's
unique ability to almost instantly transport in topically
an assortment of other medicinals into one's system.

Warning about DMSO: Before applying to skin, make sure the area to be treated is washed thoroughly. ANYTHING on your skin will be carried into the body by DMSO. Further, either wear gloves or make sure hands are also perfectly clean.

True, but to clarify a little more...
DMSO won't carry in anything, molecular weight wise, that your skin would not absorb naturally anyways.
However, the cautions are necessary, cause it will carry that stuff in so much quicker & likely much more
of it, where naturally some of the bad stuff might have had time to of dried up, or brushed off beforehand.
Also, anytime skin absorbing anything nasty, it's always better that it be slow dose rather than lots quickly.
IOW's you don't apply DMSO on your skin right before or after you spray/handle pesticides/herbicides, etc.
You also would not put it on your skin right before applying a 24-hour nicotine patch or any other such drug
skin patch applied, not unless you wanted to risk getting a 24-hour dose in 20 minutes, likely not good to do.

Excellent point. As postal carriers are in contact with many parcels and people, they are much more likely to become infected and to be spreaders than the average bear. Combine this with the long surface life of CoViD-19, and your strategy seems prudent. I will probably use a spray bottle with dilute bleach (as well as gloves).

I will also take off publicly worn shoes when I come into the house.

Mud room has a whole new/essential practicality here now.
Same as slipping on boots heading out to the barn/field and taking off at
backdoor coming back in, has always been SOP on most farms/ranches.

I remember seeing New Orleans FD during Katrina utilizing those shallow
portable kiddy pools back at their improvised base to bleach spray down
decon all their outer clothing and boots whenever coming back in from stink
water downtown operations. A step in/out couple inches deep shoe/boot
bleach bath, for any of our footwear that can handle it, might be good idea.

Does anyone here have experience with Rife systems? I was considering getting a Spooky2 setup and a quick immersion in the related documentation/fora. I suspect that it will take a long time to get a good working knowledge base (?) and to form my own opinion about effectiveness.

Individuals or couples with no kids at home and live in a fairly high-crime area. Plan to make your home/apartment look inhabited if you or both of you are hospitalized. On/off timers for radio (turned up just loud enough to hear while standing outside next to door or window) and a few inside lights, timed to go on or off at certain times of day/night. Have timers pre-set, ready to plug in at moment's notice. Photo sensitive porch lights that turn on automatically at dusk are also nice.

Good advice, also maybe we need to all find some official scary looking signage like;

Since 1999
Picked up another small chest freezer today. The one I have is about 7 years old and not sure how long they last now a days. Right on the label it said country of origin "China", which I figured and an another reason I wanted to go a head and get one. Also they were on sale. Planning on buying a whole lot more frozen fruit and veggies since getting fresh is going to be a problem until the garden starts producing. And I can make up a variety of homemade soup and freeze it.

Addition to post #192 ... Get a Post Office form for stopping mail delivery and fill it out except for dates. If you realize you may have to go to the hospital, fill in the dates and put it in your mailbox for the mail delivery/pick up person. A build-up mail, especially in street-side mail boxes, is a dead giveaway that no one's home.

Edit: shipping packages (from Amazon, etc) sitting on your porch for days are also a tip-off. So, keep that in mind if you order a lot of stuff online.

Addition to posts #192 & #196 (this is all stuff related to home/personal life if you are unexpectedly hospitalized or otherwise have to be away from home for an extended period) ... This will not work for some people due to finances, but it might be wise to change certain monthly bills from "pay when you choose" (prior to the delinquent date, of course) to autopay. I don't like autopay. I like to choose when to pay bills & it's a hassle making sure there are enough funds in checking acct to cover autopay bills being deducted at different times. Besides, not too worried about possibly being a bit late on some bills. But other bills, not good to be late--credit cards, cell phone, storage rentals, mortgage, auto insurance, etc. So, as a preventive measure, it might be good to switch some essential bills to autopay, so if you're hospitalized or incapacitated, at least they will get paid. Just have to make sure there's enough $ in the chkg acct to cover the autopays for a few months. Another option is to pay ahead on certain important bills, giving yourself a bit of a cushion.
