Glenmorangie - Scotch
Neat or on the rocks depending on my mood

Great choice - WHEN I can afford it which isn't very often.

My top three favorites in Scotch (in order of preference)

* Johnnie Walker Red

* Clan McGregor (on the lower end but very nice.)

* Teacher's Highland Creme (strong and aromatic. Acquired taste but excellent overall.)

Addendum: I add nothing but ice to good Scotch. OTOH, I use swamp gas like J&B to make Scotch and Soda in the summer. Happens to be a perfect combo.

Thanks Smith 357. Bulleit Rye is one of my go-to's for the cocktail, altho it's quite good with maker's small batch or Elijah Craig. Now, the lime bitters & ginger all sounds a bit sweet - might have to go half & half ginger to seltzer.

None of the above. Whiskey makes me MEAN! Learned that about 40 years ago and wont touch it. Now vodka... thats another story. Hubby would feed me that every day if he could (wink, wink). I could make a high-paid pro blush. :)

I'm the exact opposite, which is really interesting. Whiskey and vodka both made my dad mean, my mom preferred vodka, haven't a clue as to what my brother drinks.

Due to so much rubbish ending up in bottles these days over here(it's as bad now as the drinks in Eastern Europe under the USSR), I slow ferment with bread yeast so as not to create disgusting flavoured esters, that distilleries cold filter to try and make their rubbish drinkable, and I don't add flavours like honey or cherry to try and disguise the junk either.

So I slow distill my own in a proper copper still that's now got a wonderful coating of patina inside it as well (it must never be cleaned out, before use I clean with a mix of vinegar and water that I distill then rinse). I make a lot of Calvados, and Liqueurs too (Coffee, Walnut, Apricot, Plum, and pear).

My favourite whiskey was J & B Special Reserve that used to be exported to Spain. I doubt it is still any good as standard J & B is now rubbish. But that Special Reserve in the beige label bottle knocked the socks off pretty much anything else.

I liked a good Islay too, but there's a lot of complaints their standards have gone out the window. My favourite was Lagavulin.

Something I tried in America that was very nice, was Jack Fire. The bottles over here have rubbish in them, just like standard JD (it's YUCK! now :( )

It's not real sweet; it depends on how strong the ginger is. The buffalo rock ginger ale is good, and the Australian ginger beer

From one Iowa girl to another - Templeton Rye. Of course, I grew up not far from there, and still have family in Templeton........

On the rocks or with some club soda.

I'll check it out when I finish this bottle of Bailey's.

Johnnie Walker Black with a splash and twist.

I never tried a flavor of Midnight Moon that I didn't like - tasty but strong stuff!

I pretty much quit drinking because of high blood sugar. Had a couple drinks on New Year's Eve, nothing since.

The best bourbon is the drink that you get for free....

Otherwise it is JD Black Label which is just fine for the cost....

Did you see Aldi's here in town has increased it's alcohol section and now sells their version of Bailey's?

No, I didn't know that! Thanks for the heads up. I'll give you some advance notice and maybe we can meet for lunch in March or something.

Well, the cabinet now has JW Black Label, Makers and some Talisker 12 yr Distiller's Edition. There is some Dalmore in the motorhome....

Well, for sippin', I found that Texas 1835 is really smooth. Yeah, I know that it's only "bottled" in Texas, but that is some really smooth stuff! I was a fan of Rebecca Creek beforehand though.

Let me know when my schedule is really heavy now through mid April. I'll probably be looking to escape my students at some point!

Once a year, on March 23rd I buy one bottle of Glenlivet 12 year and drink a toast or two (or three) to my high school classmates for reasons that shall remain with me.
Of course that requires a Guinness Stout chaser or two.
So, if late on that day in March I post some off the wall comments, or wax eloquent about things you don't really care about you'll know why.

"What is your Favorite Whiskey?"

I think the correct answer to that question is:
Whaddaya Got?
followed by , YEP, THATS IT! to whatever they answer.

Famous Grouse.

Yep, that's my "house" scotch. Smooth, mild and tasty. Not to expensive so you don't feel guilty pouring it on rocks in the summer.

Makers Mark

I never had top shelf bourbon until about three years ago. It's damn difficult to go back to cheaper stuff. Good thing I don't drink much anymore.

RB, if you like Makers Mark, you might give Makers 46 a try. Costs a little more, and is a little stronger, but tasty.

Buffalo Trace out of Frankfort, Ky. Pour it, add a splash and some ice, and enjoy. It's a good bourbon. Very good.

A nice Scotch whisky is always nice, though lately I've been drinking more Irish whisky than anything else. Jameson or Jameson Black Barrel suits my unsophisticated tastes just fine.

I haven't splurged for a $125 bottle of Green Spot yet, might never.

As for scotch, single malt or blend doesn't matter much to me. Depends on my mood.

Makers Mark is hard to beat. As for scotch, having grown up at the beach and no longer there, a scotch called Springbank (made on the edge of the ocean) brings back some great memories as there is just a hint of the ocean detectable in this most wonderful nectar. The distillery is small and the scotch is pricey.
