Where's the best source to learn herbal remedies?

I have become increasingly interested in learning more about herbal medicines.

I've browsed the different sites that offer corrospondence courses and for right now, they are way out of my price range. So, I would like to know if any of you more experienced folks could guide me to a reliable source to begin my education?

Hi mijuco,

Hi, I’m in the same boat. LOL I want to get the education, but don’t have the finances.
Here are some links you can check out. They are the ones I dream about all the time.

This link is to the American Herbalist Guild. This is a directory of herbal schools.

Herbal Healer Academy is a real popular one. She has a pretty big site, so check it all out.
Here is a snip from her site.

The Herbal Healer Academy offers you the nation's only herbology correspondence course that provides you with hands-on learning experience! All lessons come with a project which includes sample herbs, so that you learn by actually working with the herbs. There are 22 lessons in the herbology course and there is no time limit for you to complete them. Another unique feature of this course is that you can order one lesson at a time, this makes it very economical. There is no obligation to finish the course, but when you do successfully complete it, and pass the final examination, you will be awarded the Herbal Healer Academy Certificate for Herbology.
And each lesson is only $20 each.

Thanks for the links, TropicalFish. I have looked at the HerbalHealer site, but somehow missed the fact that you can pay by the lesson. That does make it much more affordable!

im not all that knowledgeble or skilled but i started out with some books and then went to the herbalhealer.com--ive bought several things over the years and really enjoyed them.

i like the course so far---its pretty basic and simple---maybe too simple compared to some books, but i like it and being able to set my own pace. i feel like its giving me more than book learning as they send info and the herbs and instructions. i get to do the lesson and then play around and do more.

it made me get off my duff and try things that i used to be too intimidated to do before, like making medicinals, my own chapstick, salves, etc. Whoooooweeeee!

im having a blast. everytihgn i make i try on myself then give to familty members and friends and ask their opinions.

whatever course you try, no matter what you will learn something. maybe the main thing is to learn confidence in yourself and to believe you can study, practice and enjoy.

i wish you all the best.
