U.S. President Donald Trump blamed Iran on Tuesday for "orchestrating" an attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad and said he will hold Tehran responsible.
"Iran killed an American contractor, wounding many. We strongly responded, and always will. Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the Embassy, and so notified," Trump said in a Twitter post. Trump blames Iran for 'orchestrating' attack on U.S. embassy in Iraq

The president’s tweet came after dozens of angry Iraqi Shiite militia stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad and set fire to a reception area on the grounds earlier in the day.
The Iraqi supporters, many dressed in military uniform, pushed into the compound using cars to break through its gate. The protestors hanged a poster on the wall saying, “America is an aggressor.”
Though the mob stopped short of entering the main building of the compound, many shouted “Down, Down, USA!” and flung water and rocks over the embassy walls. About 30 Iraqi soldiers in armored vehicles arrived near the embassy hours after the violence, according to an AP report.

The attack followed deadly U.S. airstrikes on Sunday that killed 25 fighters of the Iran-backed militia in Iraq, carried out in retaliation for last week’s killing of an American contractor in a rocket attack on an Iraqi military base that American officials blamed on the militia.
The U.S. strikes over the weekend were the latest to target the Iraqi state-sanctioned and Iranian-backed militia and appear to mark the start of a more fierce power struggle between the U.S. and Iran throughout the Middle East.
While Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday’s strikes were designed to convey that the White House will not turn a blind eye to actions taken by Iran that jeopardize American lives, the Iraqi government deemed the attack a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and said it will re-examine its relationship with the U.S.-led coalition.

Time to pull ALL of our resources out of the area, bring it all home and arm up for the Inevitable dragon day.....

Let them all kill each other over there. Send the dirtbags here back to help them all out.

The whole Involvement over there only makes sense to those owning stock or sitting on the board.

High time we quit digging our hole deeper just to send money and men to that hellhole, among others.

Lots of commentary last day that DJT didn't know about the retaliatory strikes, and that these angry protests are as authentic as a 3 dollar bill...

Deep state *is* up against a wall, as is Iran...but that doesn't prove anything, I reckon...

This is the latest gambit by Iran's increasingly desperate Mullah's who are losing their grip in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and now Iraq, thanks to President Donald Trump's policies. It's an attempt to force a US withdrawal from Iraq. It won't work.

The more time passes, the more I think I can smell the stench of the Desperate Iran and deep state demoncrats behind this. Blood being spilt and lives sacrificed are probably just happy bonus points to them. May they rot slowly a good long time before they begin to burn.

...n btw, why are they so so stupid, and transparent? Its like being stuck in jr high with the lunchroom losers running the show. Except, with dead and dying people.

Trump understands that everyone needs to save face. And very occasionally, you drop the hammer, the way we did on the Russian at Deir Ezzor, Syria, on February 7, 2018. We barely mentioned it, but it was the worst military defeat that the US ever inflicted on Russia.

This is not warning, it is a threat: Trump declares US embassy in Iraq safe, says Iran will pay ‘big price’ for attack
31 Dec, 2019 21:28 / Updated 30 seconds ago

US President Donald Trump said that the embassy in Baghdad has been secured by US and Iraqi troops, and threatened to hold Iran “fully responsible” for any damages or loss of life at any American facility.
“This is not a Warning, it is a Threat,” Trump declared in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon, adding that Iran will “pay a very BIG PRICE!” for the embassy siege earlier in the day.

A task force of US Marines was rushed to the embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday, after protesters and fighters of the Shia militia Kataib Hezbollah stormed the perimeter, chanting “Death to America.”
ALSO ON RT.COMIran slams US ‘audacity’ to blame it for Baghdad embassy storming
Attack helicopters circled the compound, dropping flares in attempts to scatter the protesters, who had reportedly breached the front gate. Iraqi security forces were initially said to have let the militants through, but Trump’s tweet said that the government in Baghdad rapidly responded to his request for assistance.
The embassy siege appeared to be Kataib Hezbollah’s response to the series of US airstrikes over the weekend, targeting their positions in Iraq and Syria. The Iranian-backed militia has been fighting against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorists, but the Pentagon blamed it for last week’s attack on a US coalition base near Kirkuk, in which one contractor died.
The Iraqi government had condemned the airstrikes as a violation of their sovereignty. Iran rejected all accusations that it was responsible for the embassy siege, calling it “surprising audacity” to blame Tehran for protests over the “savage killing” of at least 25 Iraqis.

#BREAKING: 82nd Airborne Divisions Alert Brigade has been issued orders to deploy to Kuwait. About 500 paratroopers already heading on over on C-17A(s) -
@LucasFoxNews

That's heavy duty.

They wouldn't get deployed on a whim.

It would take a minimum of 5 planes. Not sure if they load the full 100 troops for transatlantic trips. May need some extra portapotties back there.
