Has No Life - Lives on TB
What nonsense! Most public health departments have the table in their plans with the 6 phases of pandemic that help guide activities and responses depending on the level at which you are at. What level or phase you are at determines the kind of response. It is a very helpful guide for determining the type of activities and so on that need to be undertaking and helps with a more coordinated response. Of course we were hanging in there between phase 5 and phase 6(pandemic phase) until all of this about Iran, Italy, and South Korea came up. We are at Phase 6 now which is the full pandemic phase.

This is the same federal gubbimint that says two of the same sex can get "married". This is the same one that says diversity is strength. Just more doublespeak trying to re-name things and not focus on the real facts. Control freak. We are totally on our own here. Prepare accordingly. (Yeah, I know- you already did.)

Pandemic is one of those ugly White smart people words that fly in the face of their touchy feely narrative. It is what it is. Putting a different name to it doesn't make the mortality rate go down.

Work = Lives of my family...

Health insurance, life insurance, shelter, transportation, food, water, hygeine, etc.

How long can YOU live with ZERO cash income?

Me and mine?

MAYBE, a month and we are on the streets rummaging through trash bins.

I'm seriously wondering if folks have truly thought this through?

Your life span in a SHTF scenario is only as long as your next meal... Figure in a bad climate and it decreases exponentially...

Sadly, I think too many people think The Walking Dead is a viable reality.

Most important prep has always been to have 3-6 months expenditures tucked away.

Interesting angle on all this period I don't know anything about funeral homes. If I had to guess, I would say that they probly just have someone who one of their side parts of their job is writing obits. Otherwise, this could be an interesting part time job for some of us… Does anyone know if obit writer's a full time job at a funeral home?
The family writes the obit. Really helpful people write their own. :)

I found 3 boxes of nitril gloves my husband had moved to the attic that I think I bought back around the time of the H1N1 outbreak. I also found several boxes of masks in a garage cupboard and I had already gotten more not realizing I had those (we moved about 3 years ago.) Over 20 year on TB2K...I was better prepped than I thought. I haven't looked in my medical bag, but I could probably do kitchen table surgery in a pinch. LOL. I don't have lyme, but it's Vegas- bodies would just be dumped in the desert per usual ;) My husband told me yesterday he'll make me a potato planter after my potatoes sprout. He dodged a bullet because I was in a semi good mood.

Be sure to test those gloves; my old stock would tear easily...

ETA: they may have been latex gloves, I don't recall.

Doesn't matter. If someone wants to come here from Chuna there are many hubs to come though. They don't have to fly direct.

True. Not only are people from China still coming into our country, but what about all those coming in from Japan, SK, UK, Italy, etc. who also have an outbreak? Airports aren't even checking those folks. How many of them are infected, or have been in contact with someone who is infected?

And the CDC wants us to believe that we only have 34 cases in the US. Hard to believe, isn't it?

I expect that people are going to stop making insurance premiums very quickly. Consider what happens when you wake up one morning with a sore throat and go to the hospital and they give you a prescription for Tylenol, Robitussin, and Muccenex and tell you to go home and self quarantine for 14 days because there is no room in the hospital. Are you actually going to make the next health insurance premium? Or any other insurance premium?
I bet that the citizens of Wuhan have not even thought about insurance for the last 30 days.

Of course I prepared! I still have supplies from 2010. lol Also, ordered new supplies before the awareness was really raised.

UPDATE: The latest presumptive case has now been confirmed as Canada's 10th case of coronavirus. Officials say the woman wore a mask on the plane back to Toronto, had limited interaction with people upon her return home, and had a 'borderline' positive result.

Easier said than done. We had this for several years, and then I got laid off last summer. My full-time job carried our insurance, and private and/or COBRA was way too expensive. It took me six months to get rehired, and we used up those savings on the medicine my hubby takes daily plus living expenses. I’ve been back at work now for about 3 months, and all signs point to me getting laid off again due to this virus. I won’t even qualify for unemployment benefits again, which was paltry anyway. I have no idea what we’ll do financially if I lose my job again. We’re renting, and while our landlords are great people, they still have a mortgage and are seniors on a fixed income. They wouldn’t let us go any significant length of time without paying rent. We might find ourselves camping out in the woods in a few months.

All we can do is rely on God. He is our rock and our salvation, and He’ll provide, one way or another.

Yeah in fact I am.

Because other things illnesses, and trauma events are still happening.

Imagine having a seizure and staying in the hospital for 22 hours, and the bill is 34,000.00. And you're going to get a bill, regardless.

You can say you won't pay it, Go ahead and try, then there will be collection agencies, and court costs who will add to that, and eventually your pay check will be garnished.

So have fun not having insurance.

BTW the ER has been doing your scenario for decades.

Jubilee on Earth,

With stories such as yours of which I am sorry to hear, America may become a "saving nation" again in place of a "spending nation"

Remember all the memorials and obits that were online after the Twin Towers? Where are all the ones for the Pandemic? It looks like there would be obits all over Twitter (it is an International platform) and I'm not seeing any. Just something else in this train wreck that makes me go Hmmm?

OH CRAP.. radio just said Trump is leaving this week to go to a huge rally in India? I do not like this at all. not one single bit, stay home, hes got more sense than this.

Monday, Feb. 24, 2020:

It just occured to me; remember how over the past year they've caught a couple of Chinese women sneaking onto the TRUMP compound down in Mara Largo under false pretenses?
One of them, IIRC wanted to go swimming in his pool.
What if they had been intentionally infected with this WuFlu - surely they had it long before it was "accidentally" released.
Were they tasked with smearing body fluids all over everything POTUS might come in contact with, and pissing in his pool if they could access it?
Were they human Chicom bio-weapons on a mission to infect and if possible take out our POTUS?
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they start showing up shortly after DJT started imposing sanctions on the Chicoms?
Didn't they classify that as an "act of war"?
Wouldn't it be reasonable to expect them to retaliate in some manner?
If and when this pandemic dies out, as they all do eventually, will the tally of dead be about the same as though there had been a full on global nuclear exchange?

I used the plural millions in reference to all of the Mardi Gras revellers in New Orleans and Rio. I'm not sure what the current New Orleans numbers are but do know that in the past they were estimated to be one million. Additionally, there are Mardi Gras celebrations in other Gulf Coast cities. The Brazilian carnival is much larger than New Orleans', so I think the combined total of millions is correct.

I went once in New Orleans during the late 1970s and all I can say is that while the parades were awesome, the general atmosphere is "perfect" for spreading pandemic germs.

Not only thousands of drunk and semi-drunk people staggering along the French Quarter and the Parade Routes but I will never forget going into a bar for a moment (I forget why) and leaving once we noticed the couple having full out sex on the pool table!

I am not a prude but heck there is a time and a place!

The smaller celebrations (I've been to South Mississippi and some of the smaller towns in LA) would also be concerning, especially in Florida but they are more likely to be hundreds of people (or at most a few thousand).

Carnival in Rio though is the really-really-really big concern, it attracts MILLIONS every year from all over the world and I gather the public revelry tends to put even New Orleans to shame (or not to shame) though I haven't personally been there so I can't comment on it directly.

But just massing that many people together, watching parades and getting happily smashed; combined with a segment of those folks looking for sexual encounters and you have the perfect recipe for germs to transfer from person to person.

I'm watching this one closely.

Someone posted about a FB page being taken down and the account deleted after a woman posted her husband died and was told it was Corona. They're working overtime on this.

Of course I prepared! I still have supplies from 2010. lol Also, ordered new supplies before the awareness was really raised.

I went from being homeless to prepped and in a pretty good BOL. It took the VA ponying up after 27 years, a lot of gut busting work, and the accounting skills and budget know how to get it done.

I have worked like a dog for seven years (seven years of famine I had, now prepped for seven years of plenty) and I can tell you that many days I would have liked to be doing something else with that time.

My canner and Excalibur are except for my guns (which drowned in that awful boating accident some years ago) my proudest possessions. When it matters, I double down. And I felt, even all those years ago, that something ugly was coming. I have said it before- I hate being right.

A couple of cans here, a 12 pack of socks there, a blanket from the thrift, medical supplies added to the cart when I just went for a gallon of milk- it adds up. Thank God for my Depression Era folks who taught me how to make do and all the skill sets that go with it. The rest is in God's Hands.
