This is on all the Memphis TV stations, but I do noy have the means to copy the article over here.
Maybe some body else might be able to copy and paste it here.
About 300 to 400 people were enjoying a community block party in the Orange Mound area of MemAfrica when shots broke out. Two were shot dead, 6 others were critically injured.
GTR…
Pretty sure it never made a mark on MSM National News because of the low fatality count: only 2 dead and we'll probably never have an accurate wounded count as "many were transported by private vehicels to several area hospitals."
So MPD/MSM never seemed able to determine if this event had a permit ot was just a flaash mob thing. I'm pretty sure it was the latter.
Victim identified in Orange Mound block party shooting
This was garnered from cell phone video taken by attendees so incomplete.
Repairs at Orange Mound Park will cost thousands, city officials say
This is CBS Local talking about the anticipated repair cost of several thousands of dollars.
Pretty trivial compared to the repairs required to the then-newly refurbished Tom Lee Park on the river front about 2-3 years ago.
Post-Memphis-in-May event some thugs tore up the new sod etc doing doughnuts and burnouts on the grass- tab was over a million.
There was a follow on piece (?ABC Local?) which I can't find now. An AfrAmer senior gentleman was being interviewed and was being pretty vocal about his demographic's youth. He surmised the municipal government should sue any identified and charged organisers or participants with a view to recovering those costs.
He was of the opinion if the participants and their families were held responsible financially, the ensuing "woodshed counseling" sessions would go a long way toward curtailing some of this sort of crap.
I don't remember any thug apologists mentioning "responsibility" in their vision of the path forward out of this.
Reparations?
Well that's different isn't it?
