Is this confirmed, Shane (I trust you... I'm just stunned if this is true) So much for "but they won't be doing direct patient care, and won't be in danger of catching Ebola", huh?

This breaks my heart for our soldiers! Another case of O doing the worst for our troops and our country.

Probably won't come out until after the elections tomorrow if at all. Four more soldiers with 'malaria' is all you know. What really sucks is at least the health care workers have a choice as to whether or not they are going to Africa. The soldiers receive orders to do so. Not this white boy at least not without being in MOPP IV anytime I'm around the native population.

So far it's unconfirmed...
The following are tips and pieces of intel provided to AlertsUSA by reliable sources, but for which we have yet to receive secondary confirmation. These items have NOT been sent as alert messages and are preliminarily provided here because of their potential importance.

This makes me very upset and sad if true. These people going in and probably not receiving proper PPE or training to deal with this virus becoming ill and possibly dying.

I think personally that while we need to close our borders to incoming Ebola cases, it is in our best interest as a nation to help get Ebola under control in Africa. The scary thing about viruses is the ability for it to become more suited for it host and ability to spread. It is a very very bad thing to have Ebola infecting thousands of people and transmitting from person to person. This just provides opportunity for the virus to evolve and truly become our worst nightmare.

I am actually for us going and helping eradicate this virus. However, I am not for sending in men and women that are not properly trained and protected to do work. This situation reminds me of most of our most recent wars. We go in not properly prepared and forbidden to go all out to win. We have enough manpower and money to really get this at least controlled. But instead it appears we send in a few troops to build hospitals... They probably are having issues getting supplies delivered to even build.

No matter the truth, it will be Nobola until the poles close tomorrow, I hope like heck it is Malaria but Shane tends to have good sources and I've been expecting something like this given all the hubris on the part of the CDC and the administration. If they are ill, they had better take the best care in the world of those guys and pay them compensation and if they die their needs to be a special act of congress to insure their widows (or widowers) get a special pension of some sort for life, even if they remarry and the children have trust funds. Normally, I know soldiers take risks and that is part of the job but this is different, they were sent into an infected hot zone, probably without proper equipment etc and told they were "safe;" this wasn't even war and the US had no business doing this.

Oreally

Right from the start
if this is true, we all know how really, really bad this is!

it, and the cuban guy, would mean that this thing is virulently airborne, or at least very hardy and long lasting fomites.

Shane, i hope your guy is wrong!

Damn!

Our guys and gals don't deserve this.

If the WHO and CDC weren't such screw-ups, the Military wouldn't have been called in to appear to be 'doing something'.

This may be related, still not quite MSM but interesting ...

A Veterans Affairs hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico is conducting an “emergency installation” of air filters for Ebola patients, raising questions about what the government plans for the facility.

“This emergency service is for the creation of a Ward to attend suspected patients with the Ebola Virus that have to be quarantine,” explains a document justifying the use of a sole-source contract for the filters, which will cost about $18,000.

Manuel Delrio, an employee at the hospital, said by phone Sunday that to his knowledge, no patients at the facility currently have Ebola. “So far, we're crossing our fingers, but we've had no issues at all,” Delrio said.

The U.S. military is engaged in combating Ebola in Liberia, and officials have had difficulty explaining the protocol for any soldiers that catch the deadly disease.

“This situation is considered an emergency and prompt attention is a required delaying repair will create a situation where an outbreak of Ebola may happen to patient, guest or employees,” the sole-source document says.

Several VA hospitals in the mainland United States have touted their preparedness for a potential Ebola outbreak in recent news stories.

“The resources we have available to us, the personnel we have available to us, are second to none," Dr. Gary Badzinski, the Fayetteville, North Carolina VA's chief of medicine told the Fayetteville Observer. "We are out in front of this."

Officials at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida told the Tampa Tribune they were preparing for possible Ebola cases.

“We are fine-tuning operational plans to adjust for the special requirements of this specific virus,” Mary Kay Hollingsworth, spokeswoman for the VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, told the Tribune.

The VA Sunshine Healthcare Network oversees VA medical facilities in Florida, south Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

This is insane...I have friend who serves in the Armed Forces and is trying to do a buy out...last meeting her squad had, they gave ve her a heads up, for possible deployment to Africa. That was the last straw for her.

Glad to see Breitbart picked up the info I posted here several days ago. The fact they are doing airducts, tells me tons of what the military thinks the viability of transmission is on this.

Isn't there a "research station" (or weapons lab.....) for Ebola and similar nasty bugs and run by USAMRIID or the CDC somewhere in Sierra Leone, or close thereabouts?

Why send the troops to Italy for quarantine? Why not send them to our already in place facility that KNOWS the disease intimately?

Or why not even send them back home and quarantine them in USAMRIID's "slammer"?

Quarantining OUR SOLDIERS in a major European country just rubs me wrong........

I read yesterday, sorry I do not have the link, that our military will now be burying the dead in Africa.

Shane: Any way you could get something to Drudge or Breitbart so that a "developing" story might appear on Election Day? Any way to point Sharyl Attkinson or another good reporter to this? (Catherine Herridge at Fox?) It is so very important to get this out to people.

This does not surprise me one bit. The conditions in the African Countries for this virus are perfect. It is absolutely planned for our military to catch this disease. Read my post on Jane's Chem-Bio Handbook. The only vector needed for the traitor to spread this was to deploy them to the area. As far as Italy goes I would feel much better and so would Italy if we had fitted a Hospital ship or Cruise liner to receive the victims. The VA is not at all prepared for this. What you have heard from them is bootlicking lip service. I received this word direct from a VA Doctor not two weeks ago. That Hospital was to be designated for Obola victims and the staff refused them stating frankly they are not in the least prepared to receive Path IV victims and still extend service to their already overloaded facility of Vets. Always remember the intent is to destroy the United States any way possible. Please don't be stunned summerthyme just be prepared and get even.

I have no doubt at all that this is true. The soldiers were basically on site doing surveys and assessments for building new aid stations and hospital facilities. It's not surprising that they came into close contact with those who are infected and showing symptoms or those who were infected and asymptomatic. Teams that are highly trained in operating in nuclear and biological contamination environments with appropriate equipment are able to deal with this safely. Not the construction engineers and civil infrastructure specialists. Not surprised by this at all and frankly would be amazed if only 4 of them test positive for Ebola at this point.

We could have sent the Peace Corp in or we could have sent Obama voluntary citizen army that he says he has.

I live in a "m!l@t@ry" town... spoke with someone Saturday that is expecting to be sent to Liberia before year is over, medical unit training for CBRN (I think that's the correct letters) now. He told me they are possibly going to be sent for a year, but it will NOT count as a deployment, they will not get any of the extra pay or benefits except family separation pay. They will not even be able to list it as a deployment or get a deployment patch for it.

I wonder why it will not count as deployment? Because they are not expected to fight?

Not doubting your sources Shane.
I am scouring the mainstream news sources for any more info on this.
So far only alternative sources are running the story.
If this comes out AFTER the elections tomorrow because the administration was hiding it, I think all hell will break lose with the American public.
We should know the straight story within a week to 10 days.
Eventually it will get out. Soldiers always eventually talk about things like this.

I posted a thread on this end of last week on the main and also in the Bomb Shelter

It's probably not breaking forum rules to note that the Bomb Shelter thread is dated 10/31. Assuming there's a certain amount of lead time to do the testing, get positive results back, have the information spread (although gossip and rumors have been scientifically proven to be the only things known to man to travel faster than light), and that the minimum time to death is only two days, wouldn't the odds suggest that even with massive medical care at least one of the soldiers is either already dead or very near to it? So it wouldn't be just a case of "they have it," but rather that "they're already dying from it." So I would suggest folks keep their ears and eyes on their sources, because if the OP statement is true then there should be additional developments being spread far and wide.

We can bring every other doctor and nurse back with ebola but I guess our military is not held in as much high esteem. A couple of doctors give their lives, which is sad, but our kids who willing go into harms way all the time are just plain expendable. I cannot believe they are not being brought home.

I agree with you.
I think that they are trying to hide the scope of the ebola problem and well our military is expendable to them.

Thanks for the heads up Shane. Your sources are like gold so this is going to cause a storm when it hits the MSM in the states. The under reporting of this outbreak appears to be a policy decision to keep world economies calm but reality will soon catch up to them.
