It's been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned----the original battery even lasted over 5 years (???)
Now when I stop the transmission seems to be slipping out of gear---idles up like in nuetral until i hit the gas and it engages. Also seems to do this when I am turning on a wet surface (not diff slip). Fluid is good, unburned--truck has NEVER gotten hot
ANyone here ever rebuild one of these transmissions ( I haven't even figured out exactly which one it is yet---99 360 V8 4WD Auto trans)
I do not want to spend $2000 replacing this thing as I plan on selling it in the near future. From past experience I think it's likely jsut the torque convertor but if I pull it it seems senseless not to go ahead and overhaul the tranny.
As of yet I have not even found a rebuild kit for this thing---any thoughts appreciated--sincerally hoping this is just and upgraded 727 as they are fairly easy to work on---however I cannot see a 717 dying at 68k miles.
