Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is facing a new lawsuit over the deaths of senior citizens in nursing homes during the COVID pandemic.

The lawsuit alleges that Cuomo was driven out of greed and paid more attention to the book he was writing at the time than the vulnerable people who died on his watch.

The suit was filed by the husband of FOX News meteorologist Janice Dean, who lost both of his elderly parents to COVID while in a nursing home.

FOX News reports:

Ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo faces new lawsuit alleging ‘unmitigated greed’ contributed to nursing home deaths

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is facing another lawsuit over nursing home deaths in the state during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the plaintiff alleging that Cuomo’s pride and “unmitigated greed” had led to needless deaths.

The lawsuit alleges that Cuomo and other top officials had exhibited “deliberate indifference” toward nursing home residents and caused 15,000 avoidable COVID-19 deaths,” the New York Post reports.

The lawsuit was filed by Sean Newman in a Brooklyn federal district court. Newman is married to Janice Dean, who works for Fox News Channel as a senior meteorologist. Newman’s parents died in early 2020 at nursing homes in the state amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Cuomo was at the center of an ongoing scandal over the state’s handling of nursing homes at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The controversy focused on a state order that required nursing homes to receive patients who had been treated for COVID-19.

The policy was later rescinded, but that emerged again in 2021 when Attorney General Letitia James announced that the death toll had been undercounted by as much as 50%. Cuomo would later resign over unrelated sexual misconduct allegations.

The new lawsuit alleges: “It was not only Governor Cuomo’s pride that was leading to thousands of needless deaths, but his unmitigated greed as well.”

Remember when people were floating this guy as a potential presidential candidate? Those days are over.

Use that hospital ship in y harbor that Trump sent for COVID-19 patients. Oh hell no. Orange Man bad. We can warehouse sick COVID people in the nursing homes with old vulnerable people. They're going to die anyway.

Yes jail him. I'm sure he had some angle to make money on people dieing in nursing homes.

New Yorkers lost loved ones to the disease. I doubt exposure to the virus could have been prevented despite precautions. Still in the confusion of the initial lockdowns I wonder what quality of health care they received? Or not? If treatments they were denied could have or would have been effective? If some of the treatments availble at the time caused more harm than good? Lastly due to the lockdowns and absence of family I wonder how many who survived the infection faded away due to loneliness and feelings of abandonment?

This was wrong and evil on so many levels.

he should be facing charges in an International Court for genocide just like one of the war criminals - he purposely fed innocent NY citizens into the COVID hospital meat grinders for his own political gain ....

Prez Trump sent in the hospital ship and set up emergency med facilities - a religious conservative ORG set up a huge med facility >>> Cuomo ordered them to be bypassed by ambulances carrying non-Covid patients - heard & copied off the radio net dozens & dozens of times - heart attack victims sent in to get Covid infected on top of everything else - ditto on pregnant Moms - confirmed a broken leg patient got Covid and died later ....

only thing he finally allowed - thru INTENSE pressure - was the FED supplied med staff to work the NYC hospitals as relief

HUZZAH!!!! that real payback for his crimes against the people may finally be starting to come round. I hope this lawsuit succeeds and there's an avalanche of similar suits complete with endless TV ads from lawyers hawking suing Cuomo so the name becomes a nationwide joke and is buried forever in the political landscape.

Lawsuits mean nothing other than the taxpayers being on the hook for the careless decisions of the politicians. People should demand, as they do for police officers, that willful stupidity not receive qualified immunity. Politicians should be criminally and civilly liable for their irresponsible behaviors. Cops usually act in the heat of a moment. Politicians and judges have plenty of time to make decisions.
