What do baby ducks need to eat, to stay in good nutrition ?

We have a mama loves to hatch them out…..hates to bother raising them, so they are in a pen, on grass, but seem to be needing something other than grass and grain mix.

They need 20% protein, and niacin is vital for healthy development. They do well on bugs, minnows, etc when mom is in charge, but they easiest way to feed them is a non-medicated starter feed.

I've heard of people giving them scrambled eggs and cooked oats, plus fruit

What do baby ducks need to eat, to stay in good nutrition ?

We have a mama loves to hatch them out…..hates to bother raising them, so they are in a pen, on grass, but seem to be needing something other than grass and grain mix.

I feed them All Flock, plus Niacin and Brewers Yeast. Remember ducklings can get into a water basin or pool and not be able to get out. I put rocks in the pool to give them a platform to debark from.

I will take name brand type feeds into consideration, but was hoping to get some more basic, individual ingredients input ?

Bugs ?

Particular plants ?

They don’t seem to like worms……

Wow.

The scrambled eggs, lightly spiced with brewer’s yeast and kelp meal, were a huge hit.


I’d have never guessed that ducklings would be into scrambled eggs.
