Misc Bees behavior and a full moon?

Limner

Deceased
We now have several bee hives, and hubby had to split one a few weeks ago, but everyone seem settled in and busy. Hubby brought in some aged manure for the garden and as we were working the area, we keep getting dive bombed by bees. Same area as last year, where they never bothered to get grumpy.

One even came right into the greenhouse with me. Hubby managed to whack her with his hat.

So I'm trying to figure out...why are my docile ladies so grumpy NOW? Then I remembered.... We have a full moon now. Could THAT be it?

(Also, it's our first warm day in a while. Its only the 70's, though.):hmm::hmm::hmm:

Any possibility that they could be queenless? They get very irritable when they are queenless. That's the first thing I check when mine get that way.

My DW, who is the beekeeper in the family, said the majority of the time grumpiness is related to a disruption in the nectar flow.

I'm not sure what part of the country you're in but another scary possibility is that they are Africanized. Have you requeened recently?
