California Dems Push Bill Requiring Guns to Be Registered Annually, with a Fee

California Democrats are pushing to replace the current one-time gun registration system with a once-a-year registration requirement, coupled with a fee to the state.

In the bill, SB 1160, Democrats pledge to use the fee to fund the state’s gun registration system: “The bill would require the registrant to annually pay a fee, as specified, to be deposited into a special fund that is continuously appropriated to the department for the express purpose of carrying out the administration and enforcement of the firearm registry.”

SB 1160 will also be used to create a new “program” focused on unregistered guns: “This bill would prohibit possession of an unregistered firearm, a violation of which would be punishable as an infraction. By creating a new infraction, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program.”

California is already rated the No. 1 state for gun control by Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety.
The state has a 1o-day waiting period for gun purchases,
a firearm registration requirement,
a ban on being armed for self-defense on a college campus,
a “high capacity” magazine ban,
“ghost gun” regulations,
a red flag law,
a gun storage requirement,
a microstamping requirement,
and ammunition controls,
among other things.

Additionally, California has had an “assault weapons” ban and universal background checks for over 30 years, yet it led the nation in “active shooter incidents” in 2021.

First they must pass it into law then a resident citizen of the state can go after them for it and warning the governor that they can be held libel for passing a law that infringes upon any of their constitutional rights.
The governors job is to govern the legislators by vetoing such laws.

The courts have already knocked this down. Several times! They just keep changing the wording. And back to the courts...
This is what you get when not only Communist are involved. But legislators who are "full time". All legislative body's should only be in session, two weeks per year.

Such a shame….maybe, maybe not that the USSC doesn’t have an army. They can pronounce, but not enforce their pronouncements. When morality is dead, no court has force of law. After is chaos. We are just about at the cusp of that. I’m sorry. Never dreamed of seeing such. I’ll surely hate to live through this phase.

that pesty Constitution. I wonder how they plan to get around it this time? Shall not be infringed?

If you cant or wont pay the fee, what happens to your "right"?

It's PAST TIME for sheriffs and conservative DA's and AG's to PRESS CHARGES agaisnt sitting local congress/senate who VIOLATE THEIR OATH TO THE CONSITUTION and commit TREASON against the country and citizenry. The evidence is their, and the wording is clear. Bring this in front of aa JURY, EVERY TIME. These laws are ILLEGAL and it is CRIMINAL to suggest them after taking ho oath of office. Why are they not CHARGED? That does not violate the separation of powers. BEing a legislature does not make you immune to charges for law-breaking. Charge them. The 2a is clear.. don't let them tell you you have to e lawyer to understand it!

This has already been tried when the southern states required a poll tax. It was unconstitutional then and this stupid gun law is also unconstitutional for the same reason. You cannot charge someone for a g-d given right as in our Bill of Rights and later added amendments.

It is unconstitutional to require a fee be paid to exercise a civil right. Think pay-to-vote for example. Mucho case law on this for a very long time.
Civil liberty.. we all enjoy and are protected..in theory binding the govs hands

Civil rights are laws created by the .gov that seem to only cover small groups ect and are more like a privilege

Of course it did because none of Cali's BS laws do one thing to prevent violent crime and their policies on criminal charges , sentencing and actual crime fighting are just as ineffective.

Same thing in Illinois.

It takes years to get to the SCOTUS and get struck down. During that lag, the intervening court levels ok it and refuse to issue a stay.

During that time citizens rights are violated, businesses can’t sell products and in the end when it’s finally declared unconstitutional nothing happens to make the states victims whole.

Then 6 months or so latter, the state demoncrats start the process all over with changed wording and different angles.

Right now almost all owners of hunted of different models of firearms are in limbo due to Illinois law that went into effect on Jan 1. They are officially felons because only a handful out of multiple millions registered their guns.

Almost all sheriffs have said they will not help to or enforce it.

If the politicians pay no price for abusing the rights of people they’ll just keep doing it until they get a favorable SCOTUS in place.

Then it’s all over for everyone
