Its getting that time of the year again where the air is cool and clean... Who plans on getting out into nature to get away from the daily grind?

I'll be tent camping in the backyard with my daughter and her friends, with air mattresses of course. That's about as "roughing it" as my back will take! I love it and so do they.

It's my therapy.
Any spare time I get, I'll be in the Woods somewhere.
Planning a solo overnighter this weekend.

Been out for deer season already. Rough mountain weather the last two days. Tent sprung a 'small' leak the last night out. Not bad for a cheapie walmart tent that's been abused since 2008. Now, I'm seriously going to have to purchase a 4 season monster proof tent......enough of me being a cheapskate on tents.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a professional canvas tent with a stove accommadation. Or a camper.......

My last camping adventure, drove from Denver to 4 corners area, Sept 2011. Rained off & on, day & night. I had bought a canvas, collapsible kennel for the monster 75 lb dog. But, alas, it wasn't waterproof. Had to bring him into my 1 person tent. That was hilarious. Stayed 2 nights, left early. Mud everywhere. Oh, OK, otherwise, it was a really great trip. Saw the Anasazi ruins at Mesa Verde, in between squalls. Awesome mountains from 4 corners, driving east back to I-25. Snowed hard while I drove through.

I suggest the Eureka! brand name and model! the Grand Manan 9. Its a 9"x9" foot floor and 6 foot high center, I hear a lot of good reports about this tent as it holds up well in wind and water proof too. Campmor has them right now for $260.+ shipping also I like the color it's a nice tan or brownish color, not some bright day glow like many of them made today. http://WWW.campmor.com

Thanks for the site & recommendation; I'd like to replace our current tent & this looks like a lot of good info/FAQ's, etc. Now on to more tent reading!

Hey, tnhillbilly, WVtreehanger here. My main hammock is a Clark. What do ya'll use out your way? It's hard to go back to being a ground dweller after using a hammock.

This too shall pass.
We are already living in a 25' travel trailer right in the middle of a clump of pine trees. Don't think we are going to do much more 'camping' than that, as I need to buy a new tent and right now getting a house of some kind built is higher on the priority list.

I do love camping, though.

WVtreehanger, I have a Hennessy as my main hammock with a homemade under quilt. I also have a 9X9 Gear Guide Tarp as well as my standard Hennessy tarp. I also have a no-net Clark and a Clark copy made over seas.
My grandson camps with me some so I have the extra ones.
A bunch of us in the southern and middle part of the USA camp together in southern middle Tennessee starting this year 4 times a year. We've been hanging twice a year for about 5 years. We get together and compare rigs, eat good, set around a campfire and tell lies uh I mean stories.
Check us out on hammockforum.net
I'm too old to go back to ground so I'll just keep hanging.

I was a member of hammockforum's predecessor and just kinda drifted away. Perhaps I should take another look. I recall a few years back I clued folks in on how to hang with only one tree or anchor using a hiking staff for the other end. The technique had been on the Clark site for years but few ever tried it. I take it you like the Hennessy.

That tent I recommended above was a good tent! They new make it with a vinyl window in the vestibule and I consider a no go in any tent.
