This thread will be used for updated individual cases reported daily of IAs crimes committed against US citizens. Not all crimes, of course, that would be to long and I don't have the appetite for that, so will post selected reports. This thread will be reported crimes, which is probably only 7% committed that go unreported.

Mexican gang connection in shooting, arrests in St. George, Salt Lake City

By Bob Mims
The Salt Lake Tribune

A shooting in St. George led to a drug bust and a statewide, multiagency manhunt for two suspects who were nabbed in a raid early Saturday at a Salt Lake City home.

St. George police spokesman Johnny Heppler said the cascading criminal investigation began when officers rushed to the scene of an 11:45 p.m. Thursday shooting in the 1000 East block of 740 North in St. George. A gunman had fired as many as six shots inside a car, wounding a woman in the shoulder. She was treated at Dixie Regional Medical Center and was reported to be in fair condition.

Leads developed by St. George detectives and the Washington County Gang and Drug Task Force identified two suspects in the shooting, Mariano Anguiano, 37, and Francisco Anguiano, 27. The brothers allegedly have a history of criminal activities in the St. George area, and they are believed connected to the Barrio San Juan gang, Heppler said.

He said the Washington County sheriff’s SWAT unit obtained a search warrant early Friday morning for a Washington City residence where the suspects had been staying. A boy was arrested and unspecified evidence of illegal drug distribution seized, but the Anguianos had already fled the home.

Detectives developed new leads, however, that the suspects had left southern Utah and were hiding in a home in the 1400 West block of 900 South in Salt Lake City, about 300 miles to the north.

Early Saturday, officers from Washington County, along with the Salt Lake Area Metro Gang Unit and U.S. Marshals Office raided the Salt Lake City home and took both suspects into custody without incident. The two men, both Mexican nationals, were booked into the Salt Lake County jail about 4 a.m. Saturday under a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold order.

Heppler said plans were being made to return the suspects to Washington County to face prosecution. That could occur as early as Monday, he said.

Illegal alien wanted for child rape…deported

July 11, 4:52 AM, Dave Gibson

Last month, Miguel Manuel Hernandez-Beltran, 29, was arrested in Phoenix, wanted on child rape charges back home in Mexico, an immigration judge ordered him deported on June 28. He was handed over to Mexican law enforcement on July 8.

According to the US Marshals Service, Hernandez-Beltran allegedly molested his 7-year-old nephew on 15 separate occasions in 2005.

The Mexican national, who is from Juarez, is believed to have crossed into the U.S. near El Paso, eventually making his way to Phoenix.

US Marshal David Gonzales told reporters: “Persons wanted for crimes in Mexico cannot find a safe haven in the United States. The United States Marshals Service places a high priority on arresting those accused of sex crimes, particularly cases involving children. By two federal agencies working together, an accused child predator was arrested which now allows him to face justice.”

So the inmates know how to take care of child molesters, but the county doesn't have a clue.

Illegal alien child molester secretly awarded $4 million by Orange County, CA

On April 17, 2009, the Orange County Board of Supervisors agreed to pay $3.75 million, plus an additional $900,000 in medical expenses to an illegal alien who was severely beaten by other inmates in the Orange County Central Jail. The Mexican national filed a lawsuit shortly after the incident.

Fernando Ramirez, 24, was in jail after being charged with molesting a 6-year-old girl at a local park. He eventually pled guilty to the lesser charge of battery against a child.

According to his attorney, Ramirez suffered brain damage and now needs help walking. Attorney Mark Eisenberg also claims that his client has been left with an intellect of a 4-year-old child.

Despite the dire financial crisis facing Orange County, Ramirez received the largest settlement ever awarded by the county for an in-custody incident. The Board of Supervisors made their decision in a closed-door session and have refused any comment on the matter.

If anyone would like to contact the Orange County Board of Supervisors to discuss the Ramirez settlement, I have included the following contact list for your convenience:

-Board Chair Patricia C. Bates, Supervisor Fifth District (ph #: 714-834-3550)

-Vice Chair Janet Nguyen, Supervisor First District (ph #: 714-834-3110)

-John M.W. Moorlach, Supervisor Second District (ph #: 714-834-3220)

-Bill Campbell, Supervisor Third District (ph #: 714-834-3330)

-Chris Norby, Supervisor Fourth District (ph #: 714-834-3440)

Reporter’s note: Except for one story carried by the Orange County Register, there has been no press coverage of this matter. One would think that an illegal alien child molester becoming a millionaire through taxpayer funding would be big news.

Of course, a story such as this one would make people angry, and maybe even angry enough to hold their elected representatives accountable for the enormous crime wave being perpetrated by this country’s illegal alien population.

I don’t know which is more outrageous, the now-daily accounts of illegal aliens raping our women and children; our elected officials allowing our land to be transformed into a Third World nation; or a complicit mainstream press, eager to assist in the cover-up of our destruction.

Illegal alien arrested after frightening home invasion

Around 5:00 a.m., Monday, police in Bernardsville, NJ, arrested Honduran national, Elvin Hernandez, 31, and charged him with terroristic threats, burglary and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, as well as disorderly persons offenses, after he allegedly broke into a home of an acquaintance and threatened to kill the occupants.

The victims, a woman and her friend, both 25, called 911 at 3:39 a.m. to report the attack. Both were treated by paramedics at the scene and released with minor injuries.

Hernandez confronted the pair inside their home, but the man was able to push him out the front door. A few minuted later, Hernandez broke down the back door. He then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and forced the woman into a bathroom, threatening to kill both her and the man.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco Jr., the two were able to escape and phone police from a second-floor bedroom.

A brief search of the surrounding area, found a shirtless Hernandez, covered in blood, nearby.

Though bail was set at $25,000, Hernandez is being held on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

Dennis posted this on another thread today, however, wanted to add to my accumulating list too:

Police: Illegal Immigrants Raped 14-Year-Old Texas Girl at July 4th Party

A pair of illegal immigrants raped a 14-year-old Texas girl at July 4th party in Texas, where the teen was later found sitting naked in a bathtub, police said.

The victim told police that she went to an Independence Day party with her cousin in Horseshoe Bay, Tex., about 40 miles northwest of Austin, where she was left in a room with Anibal Escobar, 19, and Anael Martinez, 22, MyFoxAustin reported.

The two Honduran natives, who told police they are in the U.S. illegally, made advances at the victim and then raped her, she told police. The victim’s cousin discovered her in the bathtub and brought her home.

Escobar and Martinez were arrested early in the morning on July 9 and face felony charges of aggravated sexual assault, MyFoxAustin reported. Local investigators contacted Texas Rangers to assist in their investigation and translate, as none of the witnesses at the party or the suspects spoke English.

Illegal Alien, murderer, Rodolfo Godinez convicted!

Lynn | May 24, 2010

I’ve reported on this horrific story before. Three teens gathered on a school yard to converse with one another. They were approached by an illegal alien gang member who had nothing better to do with his time than murder these teens. He deserves the death penalty:

One of the victims, then-19-year-old Natasha Aeriel, survived the attack, in which members of the gang sexually molested her, shot her and cut her with with a machete. Now deaf in one ear, and suffering partial facial paralysis, Aerial testified at the trial, The New York Times reported. Aeriel’s younger brother, Terrance Aeriel, 18; her best friend, Iofemi Hightower, 20; and another friend, Dashon Harvey, 20, were all killed.

The jury, which was made up of four men and eight women, needed only three hours’ deliberation to reach their verdict.

Looters ...

"Culprits are floating across the swollen Rio Grande from Mexico on inner tubes, then breaking into or stealing from homes temporarily abandoned because of the flood."

Looters hit flooded vega

Looters have struck at least four properties along Vega Verde Road, taking advantage of the flooding Rio Grande to burglarize and to steal, Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez confirmed Monday.

“Now what we’re having to deal with is looting and burglaries. . . Our main focus is now going to be to protect the property that’s there, keeping looters out, keeping people from breaking into other people’s property,” Martinez said Monday afternoon during a meeting on the status of the flooded vega area along the Rio Grande.

The waters of the Rio Grande have inundated large portions of Vega Verde Road in southern Val Verde County since the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) increased water releases from Amistad Dam to 1,000 cubic meters a second (CMS) a week ago.

The IBWC announced in a press release Saturday it would decrease the release of water from Amistad Dam, from 1,000 CMS to 750 CMS (26,000 cubic feet per second), Saturday evening. Martinez and members of the IBWC staff at Amistad Dam confirmed that decrease during Monday’s meeting.

“If the opportunity presents itself that we can allow some of the residents to go back in and secure their property, whether it’s with a piece of plyboard over windows, whatever the case might be, that’s what we’re going to try to do,” Martinez said.

But despite the decrease in the release of water from Amistad and clear evidence on the vega itself that the Rio Grande is slowly returning to its banks, large sections of Vega Verde Road remained covered with three to four feet of water late Monday, and water still covered a number of properties there.

Martinez also pointed out that the water that remains is “running swiftly.”

Martinez said Monday his office learned of the looting on the vega Sunday after a resident reported it.

Martinez said two homes on the vega have been burglarized, broken into, and property has been stolen from outside at least two other homes.

Martinez said he believes the culprits are floating across the swollen Rio Grande from Mexico on inner tubes, then breaking into or stealing from homes temporarily abandoned because of the flood.

Martinez said that in at least one incident, the looters stole a small aluminum boat from outside one of the vacant residences on the U.S. side, then used the little boat to ferry their loot back across the river.

The sheriff said he has called his contacts in Mexico’s law enforcement community to advise them of the illegal activity.

Dozens of suspected foreign-born gang members arrested in North Texas

Posted Monday, Jul. 19, 2010

Nearly 40 alleged gang members from the Arlington and Fort Worth area were arrested last week during the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s five-day operation that targeted foreign-born gang members and their associates, authorities said Monday.

Some of the gang members were either arrested for or suspected in various crimes, including home-invasion robberies, drive-by shootings, aggravated robbery, aggravated assaults and drug possessions, officials said.
Officials also seized two firearms, cash, marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines and hydrocodone.
Information collected during the sting indicates that criminal gangs are becoming increasingly involved in drug smuggling and distributing, money laundering, and other illegal activities, authorities said.

Region 8 minor says she was raped while babysitting

Updated: Jul 20, 2010 11:57 AM

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Police say a Mexican immigrant is accused of raping a 15-year-old minor while she was babysitting two infants on Saturday night.

Fernando Huerara-Ortega, 33, of Jonesboro was charged with rape after the 15-year-old informed police of the incident which occurred in an apartment complex near the corner of Rains and Oak Street.

The girl informed officers that she was babysitting two infants while their mother was at work when the incident occurred.

Huerara-Ortega's bond is set at $100,000.

According to the detective, the high bond is due to Ortega having no relatives in the U.S. and no information on file in the National Crime Information Center data base. He is considered a high flight risk.

Since I can no longer edit the above post due to time restrictions, I will insert here some updates to the story as it is still developing on a couple of thread on main and J. closet. IMHO this story about Los Zetas in US is not a hoax just spotting intel over the course of time, however, that's just MO.

Also would like to note: It would appear that I have "dup" posted many threads concerning the crisis on our border with Mexico in this sub forum MM/II, I have done this on purpose as most stories of IA's and the border crisis threats get lost after fading from front page. To have one location can be a useful tool when researching back in time, and adds to the accumulating information of crisis on our border and within US.

If the MODs do not agree with this please let me know and I will act accordingly. I am also willing to make monthly donations for any extra bandwidth this incurs. Having been here only a couple of month I have made two donations TIA

Listen to the toll illegal aliens are taking on Americans, as told by one of the victims

In February 2009, in Omaha, Nebraska, illegal alien drunk driver Romero Garcia, 51, plowed his van into a car being driven by Jasmine Linscott, her sister Elizabeth was sitting in the passenger seat. Both girls were taken to the hospital, with Elizabeth’s injuries requiring the most treatment, racking up thousands in medical bills.

Garcia was charged with DUI, failure to yield, and no insurance.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests 87 criminal aliens across Virginia

July 28, 9:36 PMNorfolk Crime ExaminerDave Gibson

Immigration Customs Enforcement agents have concluded a two-month operation, resulting in the arrest of 87 criminal aliens throughout Virginia and Washington D.C.

According to Henry Lucero, director of the Washington Field Office for ICE, many of the fugitives were taken into custody in central and southern parts of the state, while the majority of the arrests took place in Northern Virginia.

Lucero said that 28 of the foreign nationals were “level one” criminals, and previously convicted of very serious crimes.

Those arrested included armed robbers, drug dealers, sex offenders, and MS-13 gang members.

Illegal alien sentenced for role in Virginia Beach fatal shooting
August 10, 6:29 PMNorfolk Crime ExaminerDave Gibson

On Tuesday, Jorge Alberto Fuertes Loredo, 31, was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a December 2009 double shooting which left one man dead. Loredo was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and unlawful wounding.

His accomplice, Isidro Loredo Amaya, 31, is charged with murder and is due in court later this month.

On December 26, 2009, Virginia Beach police arrested Loredo, and Amaya, after Florentino Martinez-Melendez, 40, was shot to death in a trailer park just off of Virginia Beach Blvd. Another man was also wounded but survived the shooting.

Apparently, the fatal shooting was the result of a heated argument.

Both Loredo and Amaya are Mexican nationals in the country illegally.

Virginia Beach Commonwealth Attorney, Harvey Bryant, said that the two illegal aliens have been living in the state for quite some time.

Bryant said: "It appears that Mr. Amaya has been in Virginia for about 10 years, spending his time between Harrisburg, and here.”

Suspect in teen's slaying was deported twice
One of the men held in girl's death was removed after driving intoxicated

By SUSAN CARROLL and MIKE GLENN
HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Aug. 13, 2010, 12:14AM

As she made arrangements Thursday to bury her 14-year-old daughter, Keisha Lambert learned that the suspected gunman in the teenager's killing had been previously deported twice from the U.S.

"It's not right that he came back a third time," Lambert said.

Melvin Alvarado, 22, was convicted of two separate intoxicated driving offenses in Harris County in 2005 and 2007, criminal records show. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail in connection with the last conviction in November 2007.

Gregory Palmore, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman in Houston, said immigration officials removed Alvarado from the country in April 2008 and again in May 2009. Palmore said it was unclear from his records whether Alvarado was picked up directly from Harris County Jail after the last intoxicated driving conviction.

The second suspect in the fatal shooting of Shatavia Anderson on Saturday, Jonathan Lopez-Torres, 18, was a lawful permanent resident from Honduras, Palmore said. According to Harris County records, Lopez-Torres was arrested and accused of auto theft in February 2009. That charge was later dismissed.
Alvarado and Lopez-Torres were charged on Wednesday with capital murder in the slaying of Anderson, who was known as "Tae" to her friends and family. They were being held without bail in Harris County Jail.

The two suspects allegedly saw Anderson as merely a "target of opportunity" for an armed robbery, Houston police homicide detectives said.

Anderson was shot in the back while she was walking home to her northside apartment in the 1100 block of Langwick. She was last seen alive around 12:30 a.m.

Alvarado fled after grabbing some of the girl's belongings, including jewelry, a cell phone and her purse, police said. The purse was found in the woods near the teen's body around 9 a.m. A witness helped police craft a composite sketch and later identified Alvarado as the killer, authorities said.
Lambert said a service will be held for her daughter Saturday morning at Canaan Baptist Church, 5117 Lockwood Drive. She will be buried at Paradise Cemetery at West Montgomery Road and West Gulf Bank.

Is any surprises here? If you don't arrest criminals they are "enabled" to continue and escalate their crimes until punish. It's called pushing to see if there are any limits, and Project 40 and sanctuary cities have eliminated limits and produced a chosen class of criminals with empowerment of lawlessness.

Illegal immigrant murder suspect was wanted before slaying

Read more: http://www.sbsun.com/news/ci_15761238#ixzz0wbmfqek5

Melissa Pinion-Whitt, Staff Writer
Posted: 08/12/2010 04:00:04 PM PDT

SAN BERNARDINO - An undocumented immigrant suspected of shooting and killing his sister-in-law over a card game, has four arrest warrants for traffic tickets dating back to 2004, raising questions about why he hadn't been arrested - and possibly deported - before the slaying.
Ricardo Magana-Lemus, 33, was pulled over and cited several times for not having a driver's license, registration or proof of insurance, according to court records. After each ticket, warrants were issued when he failed to appear in court.

A fifth arrest warrant was issued Tuesday, stemming from the killing of 29-year-old Isabel Romero in San Bernardino. But San Bernardino police Sgt. Dave Dillon said it could take some time to find the suspect because he is not a U.S. citizen and may have have fled to Mexico.

"There's always that possibility," Dillon said. "He's a Mexican national."

Magana-Lemus is being sought by the FBI's Inland Regional Apprehension Team, a group of Inland Empire law enforcement officers trained to track down dangerous fugitives.

Police discovered he was an undocumented immigrant after they began their investigation into the Sunday morning shooting in the 1100 block of West King Street. Investigators say Magana-Lemus became upset when his card-playing opponent wanted to end the game. The suspect, police said, had hoped to win back some of his money.

He grabbed a gun and opened fire, missing his opponent and instead killing the opponent's wife, 29-year-old Isabel Romero.

Police caught a small break in the case Tuesday when they found his burgundy 1999 Ford Explorer in Orange.

They towed it back to San Bernardino and searched it, but didn't find anything that would lead them to Magana-Lemus.

The killing is not the first time Magana-Lemus has been wanted by law enforcement.

According to court records, Magana-Lemus received a ticket in December 2003 for driving without a license and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest in February 2004 when he didn't appear in court. He received another ticket for the same violation in September 2006 in San Bernardino and another warrant was issued two months later.

San Bernardino police Lt. Jarrod Burguan said Magana-Lemus provided a legal form of identification to the officer, but it was not a driver's license. His car was towed.

Two more arrest warrants were filed in 2008 when he failed to appear in court on two additional tickets, according to court records.

He was cited in October 2007 for driving without a license and was scheduled to face the ticket in court in January 2008.

In December 2007, he was pulled over again and cited for driving with a suspended license, court records show. An arrest warrant was issued in March 2008 when he again failed to appear in court.

It's not known whether law enforcement actually checked to see if he had warrants when he was ticketed in 2007, but Burguan said there could be several reasons why his warrants did not come to light.

Because of his hyphenated last name, his cases appear in databases under both Magana and Lemus.

"Sometimes you simply miss them because of the switch of the names," he said.

Also, he may have been arrested, but people taken into custody for traffic warrants often don't stay behind bars. In many cases, they are released from jail and issued another ticket that orders them to appear in court.

"We just don't have the room in the jails," Burguan said.

Investigators did a National Crime Information Center search and did not find any information indicating Magana-Lemus had ever been deported.

In any case, police are confident they will find him, whether or not he is still in the United States.

"He'll get caught," Dillon said. "Even if it takes a year or so, we'll find him."

Racial hatred blamed in girl's slaying in Harbor Gateway area

In the next, a gunman walked up and began firing into the crowd, sending people screaming and running, leaving a 14-year-old girl dead and others injured.

Man charged in crash that killed nun was getting legal aid from Catholic Charities

By BILL MCKELWAY | TIMES-DISPATCH STAFF WRITER
Published: August 12, 2010

Prince William, Va. --

Carlos A. Martinelly Montano was being represented in deportation proceedings by Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Arlington when he allegedly struck and killed a Benedictine sister and wounded two other Richmond-based nuns in Prince William County while driving drunk this month.

Hogar Immigrant Services, an arm of Catholic Charities in Arlington County, was providing legal help to Martinelly Montano, 23, whom federal officials have described as an illegal immigrant, the organization said yesterday.

A deportation hearing is scheduled for Martinelly Montano next week in Falls Church, but a statement released last night by Catholic Charities indicates that deportation proceedings will be put on hold pending resolution of Martinelly Montano's criminal charges.

The representation by the Catholic-based immigrant service adds another development to the death of Sister Denise Mosier. Her Benedictine order has decried the politicization of Martinelly Montano's case, which has become part of the debate over illegal aliens and diverted what the order has described as the more relevant issue of drunken driving.

And this doesn't even cover education, anchor baby healthcare, food stamps, court, police apprehensions costs. The quarter of a billion $ is only a part of total costs.

Birthright citizenship debate has major implications for DFW

By Alex Branch

abranch@star-telegram.com

FORT WORTH -- The roiling national debate over whether to stop granting automatic citizenship for babies born in the U.S. to illegal immigrants reverberates loudly across Tarrant County.

Nearly three-quarters of the 7,000 babies born annually at John Peter Smith Hospital are delivered to the undocumented. The county hospital ranks third among Texas facilities for such births.

Victim's family angry that hit-run driver still in U.S.

By Christian Boone and Andria Simmons
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

An illegal immigrant who has been arrested five times for driving offenses, including a hit-and-run that ultimately left an elderly Dacula man dead, was back in court in Gwinnett County last week.

The family of Aubrey Sosebee, whom Celso Campo-Duartes was convicted of running over in 2005, wonders why the Mexican plumber is still in the United States.

“He shouldn’t have even been on the road, let alone this country,” said Gary Sosebee, one of the man’s sons.

Sosebee’s family believed Campo-Duartes would be sent back to Mexico after serving time on the hit-and-run charge.

The Sosebees received a letter from the Gwinnett County district attorney’s office informing them that Campo-Duartes was due back in court for a probation violation hearing.

“What’s he still doing in this country?” asked Sosebee, 55. “That’s what we want to know.”

Immigrant imprisoned for 2008 Powell rape

Written by CJ Baker Tuesday, August 24, 2010

A suspected illegal immigrant has been sentenced to 15 to 18 years in the Wyoming prison system for raping a woman in Powell nearly two years ago.

Fabian Ruiz-Estrada, 27, had been tied to the rape through DNA evidence more than a year after it occurred.

On Wednesday, District Court Judge Steven Cranfill accepted a plea agreement and found Ruiz-Estrada guilty of two counts of first-degree sexual assault — one count for making the victim submit by the use of force and another for threatening her with a deadly weapon.

Deputy Park County Attorney Tim Blatt said Ruiz-Estrada wrestled the woman to the floor and threatened her with scissors and a knife. The rape occurred in early October 2008 at a Powell bar.

As per the agreement, Judge Cranfill sentenced Ruiz-Estrada to 15-18 years of prison on the first count and 15 years of probation on the second count, with another 15 to 18 years of prison time suspended.

Driver in fatal car chase gets nine-year sentence

Mike Cruz, Staff Writer
Posted: 08/26/2010 06:48:07 PM PDT

A driver in a failed illegal immigrant hand-off in the Cajon Pass, which led to a freeway chase and car-to-car shooting that killed a boy, was sentenced Thursday to nine years in state prison.

Pedro Escobedo, wearing green jail garb, stood next to his lawyer in an empty jury box as Judge Kyle Brodie pronounced the prison sentence in San Bernardino Superior Court.

The sentence was part of a plea bargain that Escobedo reached with prosecutors last month after he testified from the witness stand at his own retrial.

Lawyers in the case had said at the time that the defendant testified very credibly, and the plea bargain wasn't the result of any single thing - but rather the culmination of his testimony.

"It was a just outcome, considering the evidence we had," Deputy District Attorney Joanne Uhlman said of the sentencing Thursday.

Fatally shot during the chase was 12-year-old Gabriel Garcia, a passenger in the lead car. Uhlman said the District Attorney's Office has not been able to locate the victim's family.

Escobedo, 46, pleaded guilty July 29 to one count of aiding and abetting an assault with a machine gun and one count of involuntary manslaughter. In custody since Dec. 14, 2006, he will receive credit for time already served.
Escobedo's lawyer, Deputy Public Defender Erin Alexander, said the District Attorney's Office made a very reasonable offer to her client.

Judge Says Murder Trial in Football Star's Death Will Remain in LA

Man accused of murdering Jamiel Shaw Jr. loses first battle
By JOHN ADAMS
Updated 10:15 AM PDT, Sat, Aug 28, 2010

The undocumented immigrant who is charged with murdering a standout Los Angeles High School football player had his motion for a change of venue denied on Saturday.

Pedro Espinoza, 20, is accused of shooting 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw Jr. about 8:30 p.m. March 2, 2008, in the 2100 block of Fifth Avenue, while he was talking with his girlfriend on the phone two doors from his home.

Prosecutors said they will seek the death sentence if Espinoza is convicted.
Espinoza's attorneys, Csaba Palfi and David Houchin, had asked Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Bob Bowers Jr. to allow the trial to be moved outside Los Angeles County because of extensive pretrial publicity.
