Bead Work Crochet Hook Substitution for Beadwork

Neither here nor there.
I lost my size seven crochet hook, that I was using to practice bead crochet for bracelets. The next size up have is a 10 and the next size down is a six. Think a six would create loops that are too big? I"m using 8/0 and 6/0 beads, with a couple of larger focal beads, and .5 mm C-lon nylon cording. I'll order sizes 7 and an 8 hooks tonight.

I've never done beading with crochet. But any knitting needle or crochet hook size on a pattern is more a guide than an absolute. You always need to make a test square with your chosen hook, and see if it matches the gauge in the pattern. It all depends on how tight or loose your own style and technique is.

I'd probably wait until your new hooks arrive, as there is a significant difference between a size 7 and a 10.

I have done tiny bits of beading, only bits and pieces usually to hang on jewelry that my husband created, which was bead stringing, not traditional beading like my Native Elder Friend did when he could still do fine work with his hands. I bought him a beading loom after the fire in Paradise, but he told me not to send it because he couldn't use it. I found it the other day, but I don't know where my beads are left over from the jewelry company days. Probably in a box and the box is somewhere....lol

Welp now that my new crochet hooks are here guess what I found? Yep my missing crochet hook! The good news is the new one is Boye, and the old one is a Bates, and I love the Boye, it is so much nicer the hook doesn't have a sharp angle which makes the stitches so much easier to create!
