Disney slaps ‘The Muppet Show’ with ‘offensive content’ disclaimer

Even the Muppets are “offensive” these days.

Anyone who streams “The Muppet Show” on Disney+ will see a declaimer first — warning of “offensive content.”

Disney released five seasons of the iconic show for streaming on Friday, allowing viewers to enjoy watching Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and their celebrity guests as part of its $6.99-a-month service.

The disclaimer shown prior to each episode warns viewers that the show features “stereotypes” and “mistreatment of people or cultures.”

“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,” the disclaimer states.

“Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together,” the disclaimer says.

“Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe,” the statement adds.

It’s unstated precisely what Disney considers to be offensive on the show, but some characters depict Native American, Middle Eastern and Asian people.

And in season five, legendary country singer Johnny Cash is seen performing in front of a Confederate flag.

The warning will also appear before some iconic movies, including “Aristocats,” “Dumbo,” “Peter Pan,” and “Swiss Family Robinson.” [WTH is wrong with the Aristocats or Swiss Family Robinson, for cryin' out loud?! :gaah: ]

Tragically, the bottom will be when all the bigots (you and I) either conform or face execution. In the cancel-culture’s perverse logic, they will consider it a good deed to kill us.

“They will ban you from the synagogue, yet an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering a service to God.” (John 16:2)

Most of the people I know in the meat world seem incapable of grasping the murderous extent that evil is willing to perpetrate. They simply cannot conceive that some humans are evil enough to murder millions of other people, even though we have such recent historical examples: Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc.

This psychological blind-spot (not comprehending evil) manifests in predictable behaviors. These people see no need to carry a gun for self-protection. They see no need to question the contents of a vaccine. They are psychological children who are afraid to turn off the lights. Their theme song could easily be “What a Wonderful World.”

Meanwhile, here we are. We have within our souls a protective instinct (reference Jung’s archetypes). Though we’ve never raped, murdered, nor pillaged, we seem to comprehend these dark realities. Maybe they are buried deep within every human heart, and by the grace of God we’ve been able to integrate them? For whatever reason, we somehow recognize the evil and the extent to which the evil can harm others. Our eyes remain open.

So, remain vigilant brave souls.

“If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.”
(Revelation 13:10)

Lemme translate that line from BS to English:
Rather than remove this content, we want to make as much money off of it while claiming to be offended by it, thus playing both sides.

Often wondered how the notion of self-defense reconciled itself to John 16:2. Why would we die quietly when we bought swords as our Lord counseled? Revelation 13:10 seems to match up to that; anyone who defends him- or herself is likely to get killed in the process. But you've got to die sometime.

You know it.

I had often wrestled with the fact that those who practice their spirituality in total non-violence, Gandhi, Merton, the Amish, etc. are so respectable in their faith. I’m honored to call them brothers. Yet, the Lord, whom I also love, has given me (and others) a “die by the sword” spirit. I now believe both groups equally honor the Lord as we show faith and perseverance in two very different ways.

Luckily I picked up the DVDs of the first three seasons of The Muppets before they were assimilated by the House of Mouse. I don't recall whether Cash's episode is in my set or not but I'm sure that there are plenty of other episodes that will be deemed verboten soon enough.

that is the 64 million dollar question. that's why i said i wanted to know what specifically was the problem for them.

I believe Johnny Cash sang a song in front of a rebel flag. Also, different ethnic muppets are portrayed with ethnic characters - eye shape, skin color. To actually show what ethnicity is being portrayed is racist. They should be wearing a name plate indicator, I guess. Need more than that? The Muppets is done in English, which is white white white.
