Praying. So my brother Dogmanan (a former member here and now apparently permanently exiled for being a bit harsh at times with his comments best I can tell) had an episode of some sort two days ago. He had a very hard time breathing along with what appears to be a mild heart attack. He has COPD after a severe case of lung and brain cancer over 6 years ago which he survived despite the doctors giving him a couple months or less to live.
They have him currently intubated and he is unconscious. I just found out that he has multiple blockages and will need a quadruple bypass. He is a tough old cookie and has cheated death a couple times already.
Hoping for the best.
Thanks in advance for any support.
Terry
Update:
They tried waking him up and his heart rate, blood pressure and all went totally crazy. His daughter said if they did not keep him sedated and on life support he would more than likely die. They are supposed to have a plan some time today on what they are going to do.
Thanks. If he has underlying severe anxiety issues there is no easy path. Not saying he has, just that if he does that can prevent the discontinuance of the vent by itself as far as tolerance, and you can only be intubated so long before it is either extubate or trach.
Not wishing ill here in the least, quite the opposite. But family should know this so they can figure out their own responses. He would most likely need to be intubated following the bypass if that were done, something else to be considered.
May the Holy Spirit guide all involved.
