Fever Blister Cure?

Everyone I know who has tried this says it works. I have had it work for me too. Eating raisins! My neighbor had fever blisters all of her life. When I told her about this she tried it and said it is the only thing that has ever worked. Years later she told me that she occasionally eats raisins just to ward them off. She said that since I told her about it she has never had another one. And she had been plagued with the fever blisters all of her life. The very old woman who told me had her theory. She said that the raisins purified the blood. Well whatever. It sure has worked for everyone I know that had fever blisters.

Boy, too good to be true!!! I would like a little more info please. Do you eat a few raisins everyday or just when you feel one coming on? I'll try anything. I don't get them too often, by oh man, when I do, they are huge!

Just use your own judgement. I have only had one fever blister and I just ate some raisins and I don't remember how many, but it did start going away immediately. It is just raisins. I would guess, if you have a fever blister and you start eating some raisins - maybe a a half a cup or so in it you would start sensing relief with in twenty four hours. I do not believe in doing something in extreme so I would not go and eat a pound of raisins or something extreme. That could throw your body in some sort of repell function. When people say to eat something or add something into your diet, they never mean go to extremes. Unless they say this is a PURGE or something. Never go to extremes. I never asked my neighbor HOW many she ate. I would venture to say though (guessing) that she only ate probably a half cup or less and then maybe the second day she had a fourth cup or less. Raisins are pretty rich. Let your body tell you how many. Raisins are strong, your own body should tell you how many you can eat without getting repulsed. I really don't know. I am interesting in hearing the outcomes and maybe someone else can give info on how many raisins to eat. Thanks, Bee

Woke up this morning with a huge fat upper lip with 3-4 blisters. Probably the first I've had in 2-3 years. I was a little disappointed to read the cure was raisins. I figured there was some new modern cure. My mum was plagued with fever blisters as a kid and her answer for them was always raisins. Probably came from her mother as well. I'm currently eating about 1/2 cup. I'll let you know if it works.

My sister has been using Tea Tree Oil on her cold sores/fever blisters. She tells me that the blisters show improvement by the next day and are gone by the third day of treatment. She now plans to try catching the fever sore before the outbreak by applying Tea Tree Oil as soon as she starts to feel that 'tingle' in her lip that proceeds an outbreak.

If it works, she wants me to make a lip balm that contains Tea Tree Oil that she can use on a regular basis as a preventative measure.

I'll try the raisins too

If you've already got one, sprinkle some meat tenderizer on it. Don't know why it helps but it does.

WHen you feel one start to come up, hold an ice cube on it. This sometimes heads them off or keeps them smaller

Most blisters are self diet induced. I just love fresh strawberrys this time of year. Tomatoes also give me grief if I eat too many. A while ago I learned that this was an acidic problem. I started taking on a daily basis Spirulina capsules. No problems for a long time now. When people came in with fever blisters on their lips I broke upen a chlorella algea bottle and had them apply the tablet to the blister. A few hours later it was gone. The algea family neutralized acidic blood so it also works with gout and arthritic conditions. The plant contains lots of chlorophyll.

Hope your fever blisters are better. I related others experiences and in no way am saying what you should do. It is up to you to read the info and judge for yourself. There probably are modern things! My guessing is not to be taken as telling. Good luck!

If you get some Lysine tablets and take them regularly they should go away and probably not come back again. My husband had fever blisters very bad and he started on Lysine and they went away and have not come back since he started taking it. My son started getting fever blisters and I started him on lysine and they went away two years ago and haven't been back..it's sure worth a try...seems to be no side effects and it has worked for everyone I know who has had them.

I had forgotten about this post. Sorry I should have listed my results. Yes, the raisins worked. I think I ended up eating about 1/2 cup 3-4 times in the couple of days following the outbreak and it cleared up very quickly. Without a large scab also. DH had some breakout yesterday so I made him go and get the raisins. He did.
