I am certainly not hoping for a crash...

I did want to point out though that even 1929 wasn't really a "one-day" affair it just seemed that way because there was finally "that day" when what was left finally collapsed into nothing.

But there were several months of "signs" and small drops (followed by rises and more drops) so watching how things "swing" will be interesting.

Nightwolf suggested we should plan for similar types of disruptions in the supply chain and in bank failures etc as you would during a World War.

There's a lot you simply can't control but you can pay attention and try to react with educated guesses and plant a victory garden if you have space.

Does it matter if some, most, or all people on this site are hoping for a crash? No one here has any control over it.
I bet almost everyone has different reasons for being here. I think many or most are looking for information that they can use to their betterment.
If some spread the doom a little thick, so what? It might make people stock up on a couple more cans of soup. I think that is a good thing. I hope everyone in the USA buys extra food whether we have some kind of a crash or not.

I am concerned right now. I think this virus is going to push the world economies into the ditch. And maybe over a cliff. I am upping my preps. What can it hurt?

One needs to remember that on that warm October day, that "CRASH" took 3 days to finish happening, and THEN over the next 4-5 months EVERY POINT that was "lost" was REGAINED. By mid-April 1930, the DJ avg was back where it had been in '29.

Now one ALSO needs to remember that by Mid-1932, the Dow was well BELOW the '29 lows.

Some may want a crash but they are people who would rather be right than employed or fed.

Others kind of like that ol doomer Warren Buffet see markets go up and down and uses down market to pick up bargains. While other sheep follow the direction their told and usually the last ones in trying to get rich quick.

Markets neither go up or down in a straight line but years of bad money and malinvestments need purged from the system. I don’t fall in love with investing but the supply shock from Chinese mfg falling off a cliff is real and is the blackest of black swans.

I've noticed it's just how the cycle works the last several years, no matter the event; the market freaks, buys the dip and goes green within a day or two. Not a 'normal' market anymore, the HF and all that, forget it. I don't even try anymore.

Anyone that actually wants this to go down is sick in the head. Like real sick. Even if your prepared your still going to have friends and extended family that are going to go down not to mention your local community with starving kids that never did anything wrong. Most of us here being older, if/when the economy and banking system goes down let alone adding a pandemic into the collapse life as we know it will truly never be the same again.

Personally I would be more than happy for this to blow over and have people tell me I was an idiot to be concerned about it.

As far as the market goes, the big guys run the market up and look for an exit point to go short and then when it is down, they look for an entry point to run the market back up again. They make money when the market goes up or down. It's always been that way. If you want to make money in the market, watch what those with money are doing and do the same.

The market is 100% manipulated. Just like our economy, and our business sectors. Why else would we trade our manufacturing base for cheap trinkets..... We're all going to die eventually. Why not go down fighting? I have no idea how I will go, but I hope I'm scared spitless when it happens. 30 round magazines will help in that case. And a hose. Short covering, gamma trades. If you're long gamma, you're position directs you to buy futures. That's why you never are short a lot of options. Because in this environment you need to SELL futures and you're selling them into the hole. Plus, BTFDMFER!

I think there is a difference in "wanting something to end the world", and prepping for "the end of the world".

Take away any kind of Christian thinking about the end of days, just throw it out and say it doesn't exist.

People would still need to prep, because the future is an unknown. Good or bad. Hope for the best, prep for the worst.

Watching the market, which can have a huge impact on the economics of a country, (up or down), and the CoVin 19 world wide, does not mean one is hoping for the end of the world. IMHO that is a bit on the sadistic side of things. But am watching it, whatever it is, to see if it is an indicator of those end of days, even in a non-Christian scenario.

The US in particular as a single nation, which can't be said world wide, has been in an upswing of good times, since …..say Carter got out of office. Generally the 70's. Those of us old enough to have experienced those days, and remember them, to include history, believe/understand that it doesn't last forever. So is this it?

On the stock market I would say no. Unless it went on for several days. I think a "correction" (if wrong correct) is 10% of the market. That would make a correction in the -3000 point range.

Wanting it to happen - NO. Watching to see if it is the kicker - YES. Why is it all doom and gloom - no. To take last minute action. In other words like be the first in line to get my money out of the bank, sort of thing. Top off items, gas, food, water, propane, etc. etc.

Because if you don't, you'll be the last person in line at the bank, and there won't be any money left for you.

If you're not watching, these local, personal, world events will overtake you as a thief in the night. And the only thing that will save you is the government. Or will they deem you, unsaveable? Without prepping/watching you put that answer in someone else's court.
