Good things to say about Good Sam Club
When I was traveling a lot, had both the Road Service and the Medical option and used both. You mist have a membership at $10 for new members.
Road service applies to ANY vehicle you have not just the RV. Had to call a couple of times for locking my keys in my car, once DH went to park the RV in the back orchard, which is where we stored it when we first got it and didn't realize that it had rained really hard while we were on a trip. He pulled the RV out in the field (like he always had) and about 100 feet fron the gate hit a soft spot and sunk the RV to the frame in soft soil. Called GSC for a tow and they sent a BIG tow truck which was able to stay on the paved drive and run a cable to the RV and pull it out. From that time we parked the RV in the driveway! Huge tow truck had to come from about 80 miles away and no charge for the tow. Another time pulled into a Love's Truck Stop just north of Dallas (Dendton) and the turn in was too narrow and the trucks had a drop off to hell (like LOTS of trucks had not been able to stay on the paving.) We also dropped the right rear wheels in the hole and in doing so blew out the inside rear tire. GSC sent a tire truck, changed the tire to our spare (involved pulling BOTH tires) and our tires are Truck not car size. No charge. Several times minor service calls. Always very friendly service but occasionally service may take an hour or more to get to us. One of the things which added to service times is the rig I have 36 foot Diesel Pusher with Dualie truck tires in back, we need a tow/service truck set up for servicing 18 wheelers.
When you call GSC the first thing they ask is ARE YOU IN A SAFE LOCATION then they find an appropriate service company and call back to tell you an expected time of arrival. They continue to make call backs until the problem is resolved. That in itself is is encouraging. Then when the service vehicle tells them they have completed the job, GSC call us to see if the job has been done to out satisfaction. Just looked up cost - for the Top of the line plan $209.96/yr,
I had to use the medical insurance - if you are on the road - they will locate an appropriate medical service AND set the appointment for you. I ws in Kansas City and had a tooth abcess. I called at 8 am and had an appointment with a dentist in the area within about 1/2 hour. They do not pay the bill, but just to be able to get an emergency appointment QUICKLY to me was well worth the cost. From my experience, the full range of services is well worth the cost - 3 to 4 years ago the total cost for membership, medical and readersvice was les than $500 a year. Part pf the serice is incase of severe medical emergency the services included air evac to your home area and serviec to drive your rig home. They also would arrainge save boarding for pets.
Thank God, we never had to use these options but was worth the piece of mind to have them.
