Looks like a big turnout.
I got there 10 minutes before 6:00 AM and was the 21st in line.
When I finished voting two lines out the door and the parking lot was crowded with those trying to leave and those trying to get in.

It was okay. I got there at 5:50 and had to stand in line until the poll "officially" opened at 7:00 AM.

I held my nose and voted for Bush.

I feel like I've sold my soul to Satan.

The polling place was packed.. Seems like this year we may have a record voter turnout.

Ky is also voting on a constitutional amendment on banning gay marriage today as well.

My hubby and I got there at 5:30. We were about 14th in line. Some people had been there since 5:00. The line was to the door, but not too bad. We have a small district so the wait was probably a half hour for those at the end.

I held my nose and voted for Kerry and so did hubby. We do not want more of what Bush is doing. Glad we went early, I think it is going to be a mess, as it is rainy and cold too.

Polls opened at 6:30 I arrived at 6:35 and was about 25th in line.

By far the most turnout I have seen in my precinct. I have been voting in the same precinct for 7 years.

My precinct is made up of largely college students and we normally have the lowest turnout in town (around 20% of registered voters on average).

If the lines keep up today, the turnout will be MUCH higher (at least in my precinct).

My state had 2 weeks of idiotic 'early voting'. The news reported that 2-3 hour lines existed every day during that process.

I encourage everyone to VOTE. Even if you are voting AGAINST someone and not FOR anybody, just VOTE and make our leaders know that we care and we ARE paying attention.

Normally I can walk in and vote immediately. Long line this time. Better yet, Kerry will get out of town. My particular precient won't vote for him but most of Toledo (big union town) will. I am hoping Ohio will go for Bush. We'll see!

Big turnout at my voting precinct, however, for the first time in the 20yrs I've been voting there, the electronic voting machine was not working properly!

I'm gonna have to go back and try again!

Lot of people at the place I vote too. But I got there around 7:30 and heard I missed an even worse line. Voting went smoothly and there were no disagreementws while I was there. I saw fellow needed a provisional ballot, but that was all.

I was there when the polls opened at 6:00 a.m. and in my 30+ minutes in line I have to say that in my 26 years of voting at this location I have never seen so many people showing up to vote. I really expected it to be quite low because we are experiencing some flooding and sever weather. The only talk in line was that they hoped we didn't lose our electricity this morning again and were asking the pollsters if our votes would still count if we lost electricity. They didn't know!

I won't vote until this evening when my wife and I can go together.

Half a dozen folks whom I've spoken with this morning who have voted already said the lines were pretty long but I haven't yet heard of any signifcant problems.

Normally, I'm one of the first ten to vote in my precinct. Today I was # 134 and waited in line 45 minutes to get that.

Voted when our polls opened 7:00am North Georgia. The line was long. Waited 30 minutes. By the time we were done, there was no line at all.

I guess it was a rush first thing in the morning.

I just came from there - turnout was VERY heavy. Fortunately my district is a really small one (about 1/10 the size of the other) so there was no line for that one but the other main district's line was out the door and wrapped around itself inside the building.

I got my "I Voted" sticker and modified it - it now has an extension in front of it that says "I held my nose and...." .

Just got home from voting. LOTS and LOTS of people. Never ever seen it like that.
Everything went smooth and was well organized. We got there 10 min after precinct opened and about 150 people were in front of us. We were worried that we would not get in to vote before I had to take hubby to work. We had 45 minutes. Figured we'd give it a shot and if we didn't make it - would line up again after he got off from work. We made it though, voted and I got him to work by 759. He's never been late in 22 years! Whew!

Still about same amount of people in line when we left and that is unreal because this is a very small precinct. The voting machines were great - straight forward - no nonsense & fast.

I like the small no stop sign town where my poll was. Got to there at 0630, 1 person ahead of me, a dozen or so voting. Poll workers already looked bored. LOL

Columbia,SC.--long lines everywhere--voted and then the machines went down and now they are still waiting for someone to come and fix them. Was told votes wouldn't be in till Friday. On the radio on the way home --they stated that they were having trouble with the voting machines all over town. :sht: :sht:

Our first time in our new town and things were moving quickly with about 25 in front of us and we were out in 15 min.

My precinct was awash with voters; about a 50 yard line.

Took a little over an hour, but everyone was friendly and sharing voter guides and sample ballots. Free coffee, juice and doughnuts, to those who wanted them.

Earlier this morning, I drove by while dropping off children at school, and the line was at least twice as long, so they're moving voters through pretty quickly.

We voted last week during early voting and had to wait in line for an hour. My son, voting in his first election, went this morning after he got off work. The polls opened at 7, he got there at 6:20 and had about 30 people in line in front of him. He was still home by 7:40 though, so it wasn't too bad. I may go stand in line for my daughter later today, just to hold her place until she can get there. It looks like the lines are going to be hours long.

Went at 9 AM and I was #175; there were 15 people ahead of me in line, and 4 voters using provisional ballots while I was there.

Usually at that time of day I would have been #60 or so, and one or two in line. Voter turnout is expected to be very heavy, not only because of the presidential race but also because there are some hotly-contested amendments and ballot initiatives.

There was no electioneering outside the polling place (legal here if you are over 200 feet from the polling place door), which surprised me a little.

Took me about 3 times as long to get through it as usual (45 minutes); it was very crowded (for Bugtussle), with lines snaking up stairs.

Took our kids to see the process. Touch screen voting.

Everyone was nice, except one woman who wanted to leave and come back... she was told she couldn't sign in, leave, then come back and sign in again... she fought that she had things to do and couldn't wait... she was told they couldn't bend the rules for her... she left in a huff ("I guess I won't vote then") -- fine by me... someone that tense and arrogant had to be voting for Bush.

I don't know. Most of the people I know who are full of their own self importance are usually the wealthy Democrats.

I waited until 9:30 to vote.

Active location but not crowded. I was in and out in about 10 mins.

I work in my home office so it was easy for me to wait until the early morning rush was over.

Thank goodness for early voting.

Well, I don't know about the other areas but in mine the lines were about 4x as long and up to 2 hours wait time.

The parking was also terrible. The lot was full and people were parked all over illegally.

I was number 7 in line at 550 this morning. By the time I finished, the line out the door was about 50 yards long and growing. Only eight “booths” inside. Going to be a long day for the poll workers. Lot of early ballots being brought in also.

On the humorous side, since you can’t electioneer near the polls I found it interesting that there seemed to be some gray haired members of the crew of the brand new aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan who showed up to vote. They were wearing USS Ronald Reagan baseball caps.

We early voted Thursday night, and stood in line for over an hour. It was after the polls were closed by the time we actually voted. :crz: :tlht:

Voted outskirts of Huntsville AL

Usually at this church there may be a wait of 10 minutes or so. Took me from 7:20am until I got my ballot at 9am. The lines must have been at least a football field long outside building. this in light rain. Heavy rain expected later today.

This is the most people voting I've ever seen.

I went at 7:45 and was amazed by the turnout, they had moved us out of a classroom and into the school gym. If you wanted to fill out your ballot at one of the privacy booths you would have to wait, if you were comfortable filing out your ballot at one of the many folding tables they had set up it was smooth sailing. The biggest line was about fifty people waiting to shove their ballots into the machine. I am impressed with the turnout so far.

My wife and I voted at 6:20 this morning. There was no line at all in our small district in New Jersey. We were numbers 25 and 26. We were in and out in five minutes. Friends here in New York City say that the lines are very long - they have never seen such a turnout. Also, a friend of mine called from Central Pennsylvania - the lines there are also extremely line - he waited an hour to vote. Those who are hoping for a huge turnout are getting their wish.

Arrived at 9:45 and was out the door by 10:00 My wife had a Bush/Cheney button on and I was sporting a flip-flop kerry button. Amongst many other voters, even the poll workers complemented them! I live in a rural area and this is the biggest turn out I've seen yet.

20 minute wait at my precinct in New Mexico. Great mix of all races, ages, and everyone seeming to get along well.

Actually voted Friday in early voting. MUCH longer line than I was expecting--so either EVERYBODY was voting early or there is going to be a huge turnout for this election. Here in NV we have the new electronic touch screen machines, with the paper printout. I was impressed--liked the way it worked, and like the paper trail it leaves behind. I guess the Casino industry was quite helpful in giving ideas to make the machines tamper proof.
